Def Leppard performed a rare live acoustic session in Stockholm, Sweden on this day in 1993 with video footage available.

The 'Def Leppard Unplugged' show was taped and broadcast be Sweden's Z TV on 29th April 1993.

The band started their main European Adrenalize tour in Stockholm the following day at the Globen Arena.

The 20 minute show featured four acoustic songs and three small interview segments with Joe and Phil.

They had played their first ever acoustic sessions in January 1993 in Spain and England.

This one saw them perform 'Two Steps Behind' again for only the third time ahead of its full concert debut at the Don Valley Stadium show in June.

This was followed by 'Tonight', 'Little Wing' and 'Armageddon It'.

Probably the best sounding version of 'Tonight' available, which has only ever been performed acoustically.

Watch the full show via various versions that have been posted on YouTube.

Joe Elliott/Phil Collen Interview Quotes

Joe Elliott

"Spending such a long time in the studio motivates you to want to spend equally as long out on the road. To kind of balance it all up. Maybe our tours wouldn't be so long if we made six week records. We like playing live. That's what you get into a band for. You don't - as a 12 year old kid when you beg your first guitar off your parents or whatever. You don't do it because you've read about some band spending four years in the studio. You do it because you've seen Top Of The Pops or MTV, and you see some band like Nirvana or Def Leppard, whoever it is, and you go wow, I'd like to do that. And it's the live aspect that attracts you to it."

"So playing live is the thing that gives you an instant adrenaline rush. When you're make a good song. We can all sit here looking at each other saying wow, this is a great song. We won't know hat the audience reaction's gonna be to that song until maybe six months later. Live, as soon as you do something and it's recognisable to the audience, you get a buzz off the fact that they're getting off on what you're doing."

Phil Collen

"We're lucky there's five of us and we are a band. It's not like focussed on one individual or anything you know. If someone has a really rough night, the others usually cover up for him. And it happens to everyone. That's one good thing about being in a band. About pulling together and stuff like that."

"Writing good songs is always the hardest thing. Writing a song is easy. Writing a great song is very difficult. Deciding what our standards our is hard as well."

Phil Collen

"We're still trying to write a good song."

Joe Elliott

"Yeah and we've been trying for fourteen years now. But I think it's just a case of, we know each other inside out. We know how far to push each other. We know what we all like, and we blend well in whatever we do whether it be singing, playing or just hanging out together. And the songwriting thing is always gonna be the most important thing our of everything you know. We can fall out but as long as we write great songs you know we'd still have a band."
