Show Intro

"Aye aye and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the magnificent Planet Rock. Always a pleasure. Sixty minutes of stupendous music in my humble opinion coming your way. Do you remember rock and roll radio?. Well if you stay tuned to this station of course you do because it's on 24/7. This is The Ramones."

The Ramones

"From that magnificent collection that is Mania that is The Ramones with Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio?."

Be Bop Deluxe

"So all the way from New York to that rock and roll Mecca that is Wakefield. This is Be Bop Deluxe."

"And before that Be Bop Deluxe produced by the same gentleman that produced the Queen track Roy Thomas Baker. It's from their 1975 album Futurama. But that was the 2018 new stereo mix of Made In Heaven."

Queen

"Oh I do like to be beside the seaside. And who doesn't at this time of year. That is Queen from 1974. The album Sheer Heart Attack. The song Brighton Rock."

The Quireboys

"Right here geting their Mott on brilliantly this is The Quireboys."

"And I played that because The Quireboys song has got a complete lift of The Golden Age Of Rock And Roll in the intro. Which is a great homage. Loved it when I first heard the original version in 1990 but that is the brand new re-record. The 2021 re-record of the album Bit Of What You Fancy. The song Long Time Coming."

Mott The Hoople

"I do believe that I've never played that song on my show in the 10, 11 years I've been doing this for Planet Rock. My favourite ever band and I've never played one of their most beautiful bits of work. From the 1973 Mott album that is Mott The Hoople with Hymn For The Dudes."

"You're listening to The Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up we're gonna go visit the Psycho Circus with KISS."

KISS

"And before that KISS when the original line up got back together. It is the title track of the album, and what a bit of work, Psycho Circus."

Thunderclap Newman

"The absolute epitome of the one hit wonder right there. That is Thunderclap Newman. Produced by one Mr. Pete Townshend. And although they may have been a one hit wonder it was a massive hit. It is the song Something In The Air. I think was 1970 I believe it was."

Ringo Starr

"PK pop quiz time. Who was the first Beatle to have a solo hit single. Correct Ringo Starr."

"And before that Ringo Starr who I sincerely do think was the first Beatle to have a hit. I'm sure somebody's gonna write to me over the next seven days and correct me. But if I've got my figures right it was Ringo who had the first hit. And that was with a song written I believe by George Harrison. Originally recorded for the All Things Must Pass sessions but given to Ringo as a bit of a gift. What a great present. The song It Don't Come Easy."

Cheap Trick

"From the brilliant 2009 album The Latest. Which it's not any more 'cause they've released I think three of four albums since. Fantastic record though. One of the best albums they ever made. The song we just heard These Days."

Billy Squier

"Now way back in the Spring of 1983 when Def Leppard were promoting the album Pyromania. We had the opportunity to open for this gentleman in the US for about five weeks. So I got to hear this song every night. And what a song. This is Billy Squier."

"And before that Billy Squier. From the album Don't Say No that he was promoting still in 1983 even though it came out in 1983. That's how big an album it was. The song we heard Two Days Gone.

Rush

"For those of us of a certain age we may well remember our favourite Canadian three piece bothering the singles charts in 1977. Yes they actually had a hit single. There from the album Farewell To Kings. It's actually the 40th anniversary remaster. The song Closer To The Heart."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then do not touch that dial. In fact I'd rather you got a grip. There's a bit of a clue there. From the album Rattus Norvegicus in 1977. This is The Stranglers with (Get A) Grip (On Yourself)."

"Until next week see ya!."
