Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. We've got sixty minutes of no nonsense music for ya tonight. Including a bunch of new stuff actually. Which I'm really excited to play. But I'm gonna start off with this one 'Cause I spoke to him this week. We did this album together over 20 years ago. And I think this deserves an airing. This is Ricky Warwick."

Ricky Warwick

"Now there's a story that goes along with this song that I'm not sure has ever been told before. So it's due an airing. But when we were making this record pretty much myself, Ricky Warwick and Ronan McHugh, who was the engineer and co-producer on the album, played everything ourselves. But when it came to the guitar solos we needed someone who knew what they were doing. Except when we got to this song we asked said guitarist. Can you play a bit more like Wayne Kramer from the MC5?. Or Ron Ashton from The Stooges?. Or even Johnny Thunders from The New York Dolls?. And he was like this laid back Californian dude that I've known for a long time. He went 'I don't really think I can play like that.'"

"We said well give it a go. If you don't like it we can redo and we'll put it under another name. So nobody knows it was ever you. But he went along with it and he actually quite enjoyed it. And he being Scott Gorham from Thin Lizzy. So that is Scott playing that very funky solo on that particular song. Which is as I said from Ricky's first ever solo album back in 2002. It is the title track of the album Tattoos And Alibis."

Alice Cooper

"Right well we just finished doing some shows with this gentleman and he's got two albums coming out apparently. One with his original band. This is the wonderful Alice Cooper."

"And before that the wonderful Alice Cooper from his brand new album Road. With the very autobiographical I'm Alice."

The Hives

"From the very oddly titled The Death Of Randy Fitzsimmons. You'll have to fill me in I have no idea. That is The Hives. Haven't heard them for a long long time. But that is their brand new album. The opening track. it is called Bogus Operandi."

Paul Rodgers

"Well I've gotta say it's great to be playing some new music. So why stop now. This is Paul Rodgers."

"And before that he's back, And thank goodness he is. Paul Rodgers, brand new album Midnight Rose. the song we heard Living It Up."

Rick Springfield

"When I played the tile track a couple of weeks ago I said that I hoped the rest of the album lived up to it. Boy does it. 73 years old. 20 new songs. Wow. Congratulations and hats off to Rick Springfield. The album is Automatic. The song we just heard Invisible World."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up, we're off to the Blue Forest with Von Hertzen Brothers."

Von Hertzen Brothers

"And before that we heard the Von Hertzen Brothers. From the album Red Alert In The Blue Forest. We heard The Promise."

The Police

"I remember as if it were only yesterday the video for that song. And it was all over MTV. 40 years ago, 1983. And what an outfit Sting wore. It is taken from their complete collection Message In A Box. But it originally is the sort of title track of their 1983 alum Synchronicity."

Doctors Of Madness

"Right here with Kid Strange's very forlorn tale of woe about Marie and Joe. This is the Doctors Of Madness."

"And before that from the album Figments Of Emancipation we heard the Doctors Of Madness with a wonderful piece of work called Marie And Joe."

Cockney Rebel

"From back in the days when you could have a hit single which features a violin solo. Didn't happen very often did it. That is Cockney Rebel featuring the very talented Mr. Steve Harley. From their Best Of collection it's Judy Teen."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time. And don't forget This Is How I Roll is on Planet Rock premium. 24/7. 365 days a year.

"So until next week I'm gonna leave you with this. 'Cause I've been saving this until now because we have just snuck into September and this song is 50 years old this month. And I've been waiting to play it ever since I found out. From Action The Ultimate Story. This is Sweet and Ballroom Blitz. Until next week see ya!."
