Show Intro

"Evening music lovers. Welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you this week all the way from Madrid in Spain. Where we are on stage tonight at 11pm. Cor, there's no cocoa and slippers for us. We rock till we drop way past midnight. Gonna be great though. I've got one hour for you of some wonderful music that's kind of attached to some of the gigs that we've been doing for the last week or so. And just some stuff because I just happen to like it. Starting off with this one by Generation X."

Generation X

"Produced as it happens by one Mr. Ian Hunter. Who I shall be featuring later on in the show. From 1979 that is Generation X. The album is Valley Of The Dolls. The song, a big hit at the time, King Rocker. And I play that because just a few days ago at the Graspop festival in Dessel in Belgium I heard it live on stage. One of the bands that was on with us on that particular show was Generation Sex. Which featured Billy Idol and Tony James from Generation X. Ah but I hear you ask who was playing drums and who was playing guitar?. Well it just so happened to be Paul Cook and Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols."

Sex Pistols

"Also from 1977 and the album Nevermind The Bollocks...It's The Sex Pistols. We heard said band. I think the single originally came out in 1976. it is Anarchy In The UK."

Hollywood Vampires

"And yet another band that shared the festival stage with us in Graspop in Belgium. The Hollywood Vampires. Normally lead vocals would be handled by one Mr. Alice Cooper. On that particular song it's Johnny Depp singing. And of course you recognise that it's David Bowie's Heroes. But did you know, and I didn't, it was recorded in exactly the same room, in exactly the same studios in Berlin as the original one was way back in 1977."

Alter Bridge

"Now just a few days before the Belgian festival we played Hellfest in France. And we were blessed to have these guys share the stage with us. Featuring the wonderful Myles Kennedy. ho I can't believe I didn't even get to say hello to. Oh dear. This is Alter Bridge."

"And before that we heard Alter Bridge from an album called Fortress. A great bit of work called Calm The Fire. And as I mentioned earlier never got to even see Myles Kennedy who I know because we played together in the Kings Of Chaos. But trust me backstage at Hellfest it is chaos. Imagine if Glastonbury took place in France. It's the same kind of set up. To get back to see anyone, it's an absolute nightmare. So these guys were probably five, six hundred yards away from where we were. I didn't get to see Keith or Griff from The Quireboys. Out of my Down 'n' Outz band. I did get to see Steve Harris. Lord Harris was there because British Lion played in the afternoon. So he was not so far away. And Paul Guerin bless him the guitarist from The Quireboys. Fought his way through 60,000 people just to come and say hi for a couple of minutes. That's what it's like folks backstage at these festivals."

The Quireboys/Buckcherry

"And yet another band that shared the stage with us at Hellfest were those guys. They went on stage at 12:15 in the afternoon. And we didn't even get on site until 5pm. So there was no way that we were actually gonna get to see them live. But I am told on good authority that they went down an absolute storm. They are The Quireboys. It's from an up coming album called The Band Rolls On. Which is gonna feature a lot of guest appearances. And that particular song features a few guys out the band Buckcherry. the song is Medicine."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up, some absolutely killer stuff from Alice Cooper."

Alice Cooper

"And before that we heard Alice Cooper. 1971. Expanded and remastered. Just released and boy does it sound good. What a great album Killer is. The song we heard, the epic, Halo Of Flies."

Aerosmith

"Couple of songs there featuring current members of the Hollywood Vampires. Not that they would've known it back in the day of course. This is their mothership bands if you like. We just heard from 1977 Aerosmith. Which of course features Joe Perry, current Hollywood Vampire, on guitar. From the album Draw The Line we just heard Kings And Queens."

Ian Hunter ft. Taylor Hawkins

"I mentioned at the top of the show that I was gonna play him. So let's not mess about, this is Ian Hunter."

"And before that we heard Ian Hunter from his brand new album Defiance Part 1. Which features Taylor Hawkins and Billy Bob Thornton. Yes the actor Billy Bob Thornton. Best known possibly for possibly Sling Blade may be. He's the other voice on that particular song. It's a great bit of work called Kiss N' Make Up."

David Bowie

"I play that not just because it's one of the greatest songs of all time, but because this Thursday gone. It was 50 years to the day since it was released as a single. Even though it was recorded and released as an album track on Hunky Dory back in 1971. It was the 22nd June 1973 when it was released to become a huge hit. A song Def Leppard covered on the Piano Room last month. Such a challenge at noon which is about when we were recording it. It's a fantastic bot of work. The originaly version there of course from the album Hunky Dory. It's David Bowie with Life On Mars?."

Show Outro

"And that my friends, all the way from Madrid in Spain, is about it for this week. Been a real pleasure as always. But hey don't I say it every week. You know that already. I shall be back with you next week from, wait for it, Wembley Stadium. Can not wait. It's gonna be so exciting to play Wembley.

"Until then though I shall leave you with this. It's from an album called Action The Ultimate Story. It is Sweet. It is Fox On The Run. Until next week see ya!."
