Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show, right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"Always a pleasure, great to be with you. We've got 60 minutes."

"Let's get on with it."

"Let's have the sonic boom that is KISS."

KISS

"Well, if you're somewhat familiar with KISS' work and you're listening to that thinking, it sounds a little different, it is a little different because that is a version recorded by the, let's call it the last line up of KISS, because they kind of technically no longer exist anymore."

"Essentially it features Eric Singer on drums and Tommy Fair on guitar, not Peter Criss and Ace Frehley."

"It was recorded for a second disc of this special edition of the 2009 album, Sonic Boom, where they re-recorded a lot of their greatest hits with the current line up."

"So there you have it, Kiss from the album Sonic Boom disc 2 with the new version at the time of Detroit Rock City."

Tom Cochrane

"Right then, Tom Cochrane reckons it's a mad, mad world. Let's see if we agree."

"And before that Tom Cochrane, a song that was all over the radio in America when it was originally released from an album called Mad, Mad World."

"The song is Life Is A Highway."

British Lions

"From their debut album back in 1977, that is the British Lions, who were essentially Mott minus Nigel Benjamin, replaced by ex-Medicinehead frontman, Mr John Fiddler, who just happens to have a new album out called Heart Work, which I'm hoping to play a song or three off over the next week or three."

"But as I said, the British Lions, 1977, the song My Life's In Your Hands."

Slade

"Now the song I'm about to play is from an album that I've only just discovered this week, but it was actually released in September 2022."

"It's a live recording from 1975 of one of the greatest UK live bands ever, and this is a stunning performance."

"This is Slade."

"And before that, Slade, who I saw live many, many times in fact when Def Leppard played with Slade at Reading Festival."

"Let's just say they were a hard act to follow, and they're absolutely amazing."

"But this record is something else, and has there ever been a better live singer than Noddy Holder? Probably not."

"Absolutely amazing stuff. The album is called The New Victoria, the song that we heard originally from the album Slade in Flame, Far Far Away."

Ian Hunter

"Wonderful stuff there from a gentleman who is still glowing in the glory of releasing two albums in two years, the couplet that is Defiance Parts 1 and 2."

"But that is Ian Hunter from 1977, the album Overnight Angels, the song Miss Silver Dime."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"Coming up, we're off to visit the human menagerie with Cockney Rebel."

Cockney Rebel

"And before that we lost him recently, but his music lives on forever. It is Cockney Rebel featuring the insanely talented Mr Steve Harley."

"From the Cavaliers Human Menagerie box set, we heard Sebastian."

The Beatles

"If like me you are a Beatles fan, you'll have been very happy to read this week that Disney Plus are going to be premiering Let It Be, the restored Peter Jackson version on May the 8th."

"This is something I'm really looking forward to."

"It's a nice companion piece to the Get Back series that was out just a few, well, a year ago or so."

"So I thought I'd give them a spin this week from the Anthology 1 when the Fab 3 remainers put together an old John Lennon demo with the help of Jeff Lynne from ELO."

"The song is Free As A Bird."

Nazareth

"So from Cockney Rebels to North of the border rebels, this is Nazareth."

"And before that Nazareth. And again, what a voice between him and Noddy Holder."

"They just got it covered, haven't they?."

"From their Greatest Hits album we heard that wonderful hit Bad Bad Boy."

James Gang

"I absolutely adored that band as a kid, still do, and absolutely loved Joe Walsh who was the leader of said band."

"That is the James Gang from their second album, The James Gang Rides Again with Funk Number 49."

Show Outro

"And that, my friends, is about it for this week."

"As always, it's been a great pleasure."

"I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time, so don't go anywhere."

"Until then, I shall leave you with this from their eponymously titled debut album back in 1973."

"This is the New York Dolls and Trash."

"Until next week, see ya!."
