"We've got 60 minutes, one hour."

"Let's not mess about. this is Clutch."

Clutch

"We did a couple of festivals with them last summer and they were by far the best band that I heard on the day."

"They were absolutely fantastic. They are Clutch."

"We just heard there the title track of their album Earth Rocker."

The Beatles

"Now the words rock and roll and vaudeville don't often go hand in hand."

"Vaudeville essentially being a Victorian musical style and mostly humorous."

"But when someone from rock and roll melds a bit of vaudeville into their sound."

"Sometimes the results can be spectacular as is heard on these next couple of tunes starting off with the Fab Four."

"And before that we heard the Beatles doing their little bit of vaudeville from the album Abbey Road."

"With that wonderfully murderous ballad or vaudeville piece if you like Maxwell's Silver Hammer."

David Bowie

"A track left off Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie and a choice that I wish he hadn't made because I think it's a fantastic tune."

"That would have been brilliant on that particular album."

"That is David Bowie."

"We will get the chance actually to hear what it might have sounded like because there's a box set coming out where they've reimagined the Ziggy Stardust album with some of those songs on there."

"And I do believe that the track that we just heard is featured, the song is Velvet Goldmine."

Down 'n' Outz

"And I make no apologies for now playing you a tune that shows where I was influenced by those guys being influenced by vaudeville."

"This is the Down' n' Outx."

"And before that well credit where credit is due Ronan McHugh the co-producers son Connor brought that most rock and roll of instruments the Tuba to the party on that particular tune."

"The Down' n' Outx homage to vaudeville via Bowie and the Beatles I guess."

"It is from the third album This Is How We Roll the song that we heard Creatures."

Badfinger

"A band that was confronted by so much tragedy in their short career it makes you wonder who they ticked off in a previous life."

"What a wonderful band they were one of the greatest bands ever out of Wales."

"It is Badfinger from the album straight up. It's the US single version of Baby Blue."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock."

"Coming up, we're gonna check a train to that most desolate of Russian outposts with Yes."

Yes

"And before that well I read the lyrics before I chose the song and all I can say is John Anderson whatever you were on I want some of it."

"Wonderful stuff though it is yes from the album Close To The Edge with Siberian Khatru."

The Cars

"That was the second ever song I ever heard from that band because it was the b-side of their first ever single."

"It is The Cars from their debut album back in 1978. The song is Moving In Stereo."

Peter Gabriel

"Right then it's time to put the kettle on. This is Peter Gabriel."

"And before that we heard Peter Gabriel from the album Us with Steam."
