Show Intro

"Evening all. Welcome to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you this week from Miami in Florida in the good old USA. We have finished our tour of South America. We fished Thursday night in Argentina. And we have a one off show in a casino tomorrow night. It's gonna be an amazing way to finish what has been a fantastic month. We have a fantastic hour of great music for ya. Starting right now with Cheap Trick."

Cheap Trick

"Yep short and sweet. That is Cheap Trick from a album called The Latest. Which it certainly is not because it was released in 2008 and they've released a few since then. The song Sick Man Of Europe."

Ian Hunter

"Delivered to you tonight by the last week's sick man of South America. Thank goodness that's all passed because I hate to be sick. And talking of hate. Here's the man that hate's hate. This is Ian Hunter."

"And before that brand new Ian Hunter. From the forthcoming album Defiance Pt. 1. And one of the few that I believe doesn't have any guests on it. It's the latest single I Hate Hate."

Billy Squier

"We toured together in 1983. That is Billy Squier from an album called Don't Say No. The song we heard In The Dark."

Tom Waits

"Now here's something a little bit different. Two songs with exactly the same title. That lyrically the may have a similarity to them, but musically they are miles apart. The first track from an album celebrating its 50th anniversary this week. So Happy Birthday Closing Time. This is Tom Waits."

"And before that Tom Waits with a song with exactly the same tile. From an album 50 years old this week. It's a fantastic record. If you like late night listening kind of music. The album is Closing Time. Again the song, Ice Cream Man."

Van Halen

"Yes humour was a big part of Van Halen;s curriculum if you like. They made soem fantastic music and of course Eddie Van Halen a very serious guitar player. But David Lee Roth was a frontman with a sense of humour. And I think that shines through on that particular song from their debut album in 1978. That is the Ice Cream Man."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show, all the way from Miami in Florida this week. Coming up we're going on the peace patrol with the Von Hertzen Brothers."

Von Hertzen Brothers

"And before that we heard the magnificent The Von Hertzen Brothers. From the album Red Alert In the Blue Forest. We heard the song, Peace Patrol."

Sons Of Apollo

"Just a few days ago we did a show in Sao Paulo in Brazil and we had a guest. In fact he'd just flown in that very day from LA. Got his own tour to do. And I hadn't seen him for years. His name is Jeff Scott Soto. In fact the last time I saw him. Himself, Bob Geldof and the host Roger Taylor. Fir it was his wedding that we attended. Were his wedding singers. We first met Jeff, Leppard did. In 2006 when he was briefly the singer in Journey when we toured together. But he's a fantastic singer. And I thought it would be great to play something seeing as I bumped into him the other night. The band are the Sons Of Apollo. Which is Jeff. Bumblefoot, once a member of Guns N' Roses. The other Guns N' Roses if you like. Billy Sheehan on bass and Mike Portnoy on drums. Incredible musicianship. The album is Psychotic Symphony. the song that we just heard, Alive."

Patti Smith

"Couple of weeks ago I saw a band called Suede playing the Piano Room. It's a show on the BBC. Where you do a couple of your own songs with an orchestra. And you do a cover. Well I couldn't get the rights to play the Suede version. So I thought I'd play the original. This is Patti Smith."

"And before that Patti Smith who Tom Verlaine once had a very brief and hopefully meaningful romantic liaison with. Her version of the Bruce Springsteen song that Suede covered on the Piano Room. Well worth checking out if you can get it. Unfortunately I couldn't. So I thought I'd play Patti's cover from the Easter album. The song is Because The Night. ."

Television

"Still can't get my head round the fact that Tom Verlaine is no longer with us any more. He's such a fantastic musician. And there from his band's last album back in 1992. We just heard Television with the song Call Mr.Lee."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. All the way frm Miami in Florida. . It's been a real pleasure as always but hey I know I say it every week, but you know that already. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time.

"So until then I shall leave you with this. Now you know I normally like to go out on a big fast rocker. Well, this week I don't know whether it's because I'm a little ready to go home. A little more, I don't know, laid back, but this tune has been in my head and I thought I really want to share this. I love my instrumentals. I love my Pat Travers. And from the album Makin' Magic. This is Pat with What You Mean To Me. Until next week see ya!."
