Media Review - Tributes to Dave Kilner sealed with a KISS By Graham Walker

He championed new acts. So it was appropriate that new talent was on show. Step forward Rick Savage's pretty, blonde 16-year-old daughter Jordan, who made her country music debut at the venue where it all began for her dad.

"He told me a lot about Dave so this was a great night to launch my own singing career - even though it meant taking a break from revising for my GCSEs," laughed Jordan, who sang a cover of Tim McGraw by Taylor Swift. She met and was inspired by the country star when Def Leppard worked with her two years ago.

She said: "I'm really proud of myself. I'd like to follow in my dad's footsteps, because this is what I really want to do."

Rick said: "She was brilliant. I'm so proud. At one stage my microphone slipped and she had to cover for me. A real professional."

Backed by Joe's other new band, called Down 'n' Outz, the Leppard boys performed a mix of their hits and others, including Animal, Tie Your Mother Down and All The Young Dudes.

Joe said: "Dave would have laughed at me for getting the words to All The Young Dudes wrong, because he knew it was my favourite ever song.

"The reason I was late on for the encore was because I was backstage trying to drag Gene Simmons up. But he said his first gig in Europe, in God knows how many years, was at the Arena - and he wanted to make a big impact there.

"It was a great night. I wish it could have gone on for two hours. But it was a pleasure to play those songs. I know some where Dave's favourites. I'm glad we were here. I wanted it to be a celebratory - not morbid. That's why we picked this set of songs, to get everybody on their feet."
