Def Leppard played another show on The World Tour 2023 last night in El Paso, TX with 17 songs performed.

The show took place at the 51,500 capacity Sun Bowl Stadium.

The first show in this city since July 2005.

The last show of this tour leg.

A Hot Night At The Sun Bowl

A massive bowl with around 30,000-40,000 fans in the heat of Texas.

The appropriately named Sun Bowl had the sun focused down on the crowd and temperatures of 98F by the time Def Leppard started their show.

Following opener Alice Cooper and his band.

No rain for them at this show, just intense heat.

But having played Texas many times before they are used to these kind of conditions which happen regularly at the amphitheatre shows in Dallas.

Last Night Of The USA Tour

A brief run of six World Tour shows and the detour to Sturgis came to an end in a packed stadium at the University Of Texas At El Paso.

A second time in a stadium in this city and a crowd who have long since forgotten about Mr. Elliott's past mistake (which thankfully didn't happen in the Internet era...).

Def Leppard playing in the opening co-headline slot in the bright Texas sunshine.

'Take What You Want' opened the show as ever and another great performance took place.

Unlike the previous couple of shows a lot of it (eventually) was shared online by fans.

Foolin'/#Pyromania40

'Foolin'. was of course played in its usual slot as song #4 on its 40th anniversary.

Already released on the album in January 1983 it was issued as a single in North America on 18th August 1983.

And was actually given its live debut on 30th April 1983 in Amarillo, Texas at show #2 of the North American headline tour.

And then played in September 1983 for the first time in this city.

Biggest El Paso Show

Not only the second time outdoors in this city but now the largest show played here.

A potential crowd of between 30,000 to 40,000 fans.

Following on from the three massive shows on The Stadium Tour in Texas in August 2022.

Where they played to huge crowds in Houston (39,247), San Antonio (45,069) and Dallas (37,086).

Will they be back to Texas in 2024?.

17 Song Setlist

The same 17 song setlist played once more.

All three 'Diamond Star Halos' songs played in El Paso for the first time.

The 'Drift Away' snippet and sing-along was again played before 'This Guitar'.

El Paso History

The first visit to El Paso took place in June 1980 at El Paso County Coliseum with Judas Priest on their first American tour.

The returned to the same venue in November 1981 on the High 'n' Dry tour.

A third visit and their first headline show here took place in September 1983 again at the El Paso County Coliseum.

Joe then said some unfortunate things about the crowd at the next show in Tucson, AZ.

A planned show in February 1988 at the same venue was cancelled following local threats of disruption by people still angered by Joe's words in 1983.

In January 2000 a Euphoria tour show was played at the Don Haskins Center arena after 17 years away.

That venue stands close to the Sun Bowl Stadium on the campus of the University Of Texas At El Paso (UTEP).

They returned again for the first outdoor stadium show here in June 2005 on the Rock Of Ages tour with Bryan Adams.

A show where they also played the daylight into night time slot.

Last night's show was the 6th overall performance in El Paso.

The next Def Leppard show takes place in Yokohama, Japan on 3rd November. The first of two nights.
