Show Intro

"Evening everybody and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Great to be with you once again on a mini break. We just finished up the 11 Canadian shows and what a tour it was. Fantastic stuff. If you've been following us on social media you'll have seen what it's like backstage and out front actually. It really was a fantastic time. We're heading towards Las Vegas in just few days time."

"Before then we've got sixty minutes of magic music for ya tonight. Starting off with UFO."

UFO

"It's funny how certain songs are trigger points for certain memories. For example I remember exactly where I was as a 16 year old kid when I first heard that song. I was in a friend's house and we were listening to the Alan 'Fluff' Freeman show one Saturday afternoon and we looked at each other and we just ran off, caught the 51 bus to Down town Sheffield and we bought the album. The album is No Heavy Pettin' The band UFO. The song the opening track of the album Natural Thing."

Nazareth

"Now having just had a, what you may call, significant birthday a couple of days ago. It made me think about all the other birthdays that I've had and where I was in my life as I had them. And I remembered specifically on my 40th birthday sharing a stage in a very muddy field funnily enough in Canada with this crowd. This is Nazareth."

"And before that we heard Nazareth from their Greatest Hits album with Bad Bad Boy."

The Babys

"They hailed from Manchester. They moved to Los Angeles and despite making some great records they never quite made it. They are The Babys. That is the title track of the album Head First."

Robert Plant

"I think it's fair to say that since the demise of Led Zeppelin Robert Plant has taken us on a wonderful journey on his solo career through many many aspects of the music that he knows and loves. And he was never afraid to put his head on the block and do something a little different. Like this or example."

"And before that Robert Plant from the album Now And Zen which if you listen carefully features a lot of samples which was kind of a new thing to do back then. And all the samples are lifted from various different bits of Led Zeppelin's career. The song we heard Tall Cool One."

Bad Company

"Stable mates of Led Zeppelin really. They shared the same manager in Peter Grant. They shared the same label in Swansong as Led Zeppelin. They are Bad Company. That's their third studio album Run With The Pack. The song Sweet Lil' Sister."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the fantastic Planet Rock. It is time for a little break, and when we come back, we're going for a ride with Motor Sister."

Motor Sister

"And before that a band called Motor Sister which features the very talented Jim Wilson and also Scott Ian from Anthrax. The album is called Ride. The song we heard is called This Song Reminds Me Of You."

Chris Cornell

"Without doubt it is one of the rockiest James Bond themes ever. You could argue depending on which generation you were born into that Live And Let Die is up there. But I think that one just about tips the scales. It is Chris Cornell from the original soundtrack of Casino Royale. The movie that featured Daniel Craig. The song is You Know My Name."

New York Dolls

"And this song reminds me of the New York Dolls because it is the New York Dolls."

"And before that the New York Dolls from their debut album back in 1973. The song we heard Trash."

The Rolling Stones

"Still doing it all these years later but look at the legacy they are going to leave behind one day. It is The Rolling Stones from the album Flowers. The song Mother's Little Helper."

The Pretenders

"OK now time for a nice little bit of jangle rock courtesy of The Pretenders."

"And before that we heard The Pretenders from their debut album with a great bit of jangly guitar work called Up The Neck."

Sensational Alex Harvey Band

"Yeah from jangle to jungle. That is the Sensational Alex Harvey Band from the album Penthouse Tapes with a song called Jungle Jenny. Which until it's release on that album had only ever been available on a compilation album about four years previously. So it was to all SAHB fans basically the holy grail of songs. Eventually coming out in 1976."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time for more of the same only a little bit different."

"So for this week I'm gonna leave you with this. As I've just celebrated a significant birthday we're gonna celebrate the relatively significant birthday for this particular song. Released last week 47 years ago. So Happy Birthday All the Young Dudes. Until next week see ya!."
