Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome to the Joe Elliott show on the delicious Planet Rock. Which is quite apt because I'm in New York City which is often referred to as the Big Apple. I'm in Manhattan. Manhattan is an Island which is part of New York and this alone, the Island of Manhattan is 10 million people. It's absolutely jam packed. Crazy, Times Square, 7th Avenue, Broadway. It is a place to visit if you've never been. If you have been, it does beg the question. I wonder, have you even seen a woman coming out of New York City with a frog in her hand. Well, Marc Bolan has don't ya know."

T. Rex

"From the magnificent four CD box set 20th Century Superstar. That is Marc Bolan and T. Rex with one of the last hits he ever had. A song called New York City."

Giuda

"Now New York City is absolutely jam packed full of Italian restaurants. This next song is absolutely jam packed full of Italian musicians. This is Giuda."

"And before that they're Italian, they're very Glam and they are called Giuda. And it is a song called Rock 'n' Roll Music."

Hanoi Rocks

"I have a feeling they were not singing about New York but they did indeed go back to the mystery city. They are Hanoi Rocks. The song Malibu Beach Nightmare. Probably a West Coast thing."

Doctors Of Madness

"So just before I jumped on the big iron bird that flew me all the way to New York, I had the great pleasure of adding some backing vocals to a brand new song by one of my favourite ever bands the Doctors Of Madness. I've spoken to the good doctor himself, Mr. Richard 'Kid' Strange, and he said yeah go for it. So ladies and gentleman this is a Planet Rock exclusive. The first brand new Doctors Of Madness song in 40 years. Feast your ears on this."

"And before that absolutely brand spanking, and I mean that. It's only been finished three days. That was when the final mix was delivered. It's the Doctors Of Madness' first brand new song in 40 years. Please somebody release this thing. It is called Make It Stop."

Say Sue Me

"I have to confess they're new to me. I don't know anything about them, but the four track Record Store Day EP that they put out is magnificent. It is called Just A Short Walk. The band are called Say Sue Me and the song we just heard is a rework of the old Velvet Underground classic Beginning To See The Light."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott show on Planet Rock/ All the way this week from New York City. It's time for a little break and when we come back, one of many reasons that we love Stevie Nicks."

Fleetwood Mac

"And before that, yes I'll put my hand in the air and say from the backslapping club or the mutual appreciation society. I went to see a secret gig by Stevie Nicks just a few days ago. We share the same management so you get those kind of perks occasionally. We had a great time hanging out. We've known each other for quite a while. So I had to play something that she played on that night. The fantastic Rumours album from the band Fleetwood Mac which she's back in. She's finished with the solo stuff for a while back with the band for a year or so. The song we heard Gold Dust Woman."

America

"I still remember the first time I ever heard that song. It was one of two tracks on the B-Side of their massive hit single Horse With No Name. The band are America from their second album in 1972 Homeland. The song we heard California Revisited."

Alice Cooper

"Now I had an email from one of my listeners a couple of weeks ago saying will you please play your favourite Alice Cooper song. Well in fairness, that would be about ten shows worth of material. But this next one is definitely in the top five."

"And before that from 1973. Absolutely one of his best ever albums. The album is Billion Dollar Babies. The artist who else but our own Planet Rock's Alice Cooper with Hello Hooray."

Stone Temple Pilots

"I'm really loving this new Stone Temple Pilots album. Fantastic stuff on it. That's a track called Just A Little Lie."

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band

"Now earlier on in the show we had a bit of a Malibu Beach Nightmare with Hanoi Rocks. Let's head back to the West Coast and see if we can fix that shall we. This is Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band.

"And before that Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band from the album Stranger In Town. The song Hollywood Nights."

Edgar Winter

"Featuring the then to be future pop star that is Dan Hartman and Ronnie Montrose on guitar and produced by Rick Derringer. That is Edgar Winter from a brand new collection of all his solo work and the work that he did with the White Trash Band. The collection is called I've Got News For You. The song we heard Free Ride."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from Manhattan in the city of New York is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. We have one rehearsal left before we play Hartford, Connecticut, Albany, New York, Hershey, Pennsylvania. Which means I will be coming to you next week from Buffalo in New York State."

"But let's leave New York behind for now and head mid-west to Chicago. Not just the city but the band. From their second album Chicago, often referred to as Chicago II. This is a song that put this band on the map. This is 25 Or 6 To 4. Until next week see ya!."
