Def Leppard played the first show of the Songs From The Sparkle Lounge summer tour in Dublin, Ireland on this day in 2009 and video footage is available.
The band's first show in Dublin since February 2003 saw the band play their first show at The O2.
Formerly The Point Depot/Theatre, the venue had been renovated and reopened with a new capacity of 14,000.
It did not reopen until December 2008 which was the reason for no Dublin show on the 2008 tour.
The band were now supporting the release of the Pyromania/Adrenalize deluxe editions which had been released on 8th June. As well as the 'Songs From The Sparkle Lounge' album from 2008.
Following this show and their first headline slot at the Download Festival they headed back to the USA for their first full length tour in support of the Sparkle Lounge album.
The tour ran from late June to mid September.
A planned extra leg of the tour (including mostly Canadian shows) was cancelled shortly after being announced for undisclosed personal reasons.
