Voice Of Alexandria - Phil Collen Interview Quote

Recording The Def Leppard Studio Album

""It flowed so naturally and perfectly. It was just an amazing situation.""

Self-Produced?

"With Ronan McHugh whose our out front guy and he's done our last few albums. But all of this was a very different thing. We didn't have an agenda or anything you know. We just wanted to write and record our own stuff. You know for the right reasons because we love the music. It wasn't like a - you know a business proposition or an industry or a commercial gain or anything like that. It was like we wanted to make great music and that was so refreshing and pure. I loved that process."

"You know that kind of ended at the - you know in the late sixties I think in the music industry. Everyone was like about shifting units, the single and this and that. Now it's a download. Can we get it on this. You know is it gonna fair well on YouTube. All these different you know business things that are nothing to do with the art. So this was going back to the things like when the Stones went into Muscle Shoals and recorded Brown Sugar and Wild Horses. You know in two days. They went in there because they had these great ideas. Zeppelin used to do it. Bowie would go into the studio in an afternoon. James Brown would call the guys and go I've got this idea. Hey let's do this. And it was - that's for the love of music. That's where this album came from."

The Let's Go Single

"We're really pleased with the way it come out."

Working With Tesla

"I'm actually working with the guys from Tesla at the moment. We're actually getting a song together and that's sounding really good as well."

Debbi Blackwell-Cook/Tesla

"And Debbi Blackwell-Cook who sings on Delta Deep. She's actually gonna be involved in this one song. We're doing this one song. It's killer. I don't even know if we're supposed to talk about it yet. But it's a - we're just getting really excited about it. So yeah there's that."
