Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott paid tribute to stricken AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young on his Planet Rock radio show last night.

Malcolm was a founding member of AC/DC and has had to retire from the band due to serious illness.

Malcolm played his last show with AC/DC on 28th June 2010 in Bilbao, Spain. Watch the last song of the show "For Those About To Rock" below as posted by AC/DC Italia. The song was used for many years by Lep as their pre intro PA music.

The Black Ice world tour consisted of 168 shows and was the fourth highest grossing of all time at $441.6 million.

Def Leppard supported AC/DC on their Highway To Hell UK tour in October/November 1979. They also supported them for one US show in New York on Joe's 21st birthday in August 1980 with new singer Brian Johnson on the Back In Black tour. Phil later covered Back In Black for a tribute album with lead vocals by Joe Lynn Turner.

The show is available until next Saturday using the On Demand feature. It is also repeated on Tuesdays at 9pm.

The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Malcolm Young Tribute

"I mentioned at the top of the show how Vivian is temporarily out of Def Leppard. It would seem that Malcolm Young is permanently out of AC/DC. Which is very, very sad. He's been forced to retire through illness. We've heard the rumours over the last couple of years so it's nice that AC/DC have finally confirmed this. But there is a new album coming out 1st December."

"And on behalf of all AC/DC fans to Malcolm Young. Thanks for the music over the years. Enjoy the rest of your life mate. You were very gracious to Def Leppard when we opened for AC/DC on the Highway To Hell tour so I wish you all the best. And that's one of the classic new AC/DC songs. It's only six years old. From the Black Ice album we just heard War Machine."
