The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Hey hey welcome. It's the Joe Elliott Show. You are listening to Planet Rock as you already know. Sixty minutes of great music coming up. Back in London once again after last weeks weekend of rock and roll debauchery. I was at the Ian Hunter gig at the Shepherd's Bush Empire and I have to say. I've seen Ian thousand of times but other than the first show I ever saw, and it's hard to ever beat the first back in '75 at the City Hall in Sheffield when he had Mick Ronson in the band. It's probably the best I've ever seen him and for somebody that's been around as long as Ian to pull off a show that good. Anybody that was there I'm sure will agree with me. It was one hell of a great show well done Ian Hunter. Plenty of great music tonight starting off with this beauty from the Doctors Of Madness."

Vivian Campbell/Steve Brown

"Had a lot of emails this week from people that saw Def Leppard at Wembley Stadium a couple of weekends ago before the NFL game. And they mostly were commenting on the fact that Vivian wasn't there. No he wasn't. For those that don't know we had a stunt Viv. His name is Steve Brown and he's been a friend of the band for about 20 years and he manfully stood in for Vivian who is back home in California having treatment for cancer. As I'm sure most of you are already aware. And most of the emails were people wanting me to pass on their best wishes through me to Vivian which I have been doing all week. But a couple of them were actually requests to play something that Vivian had written and one of them really caught my eye. It said why don't you play something that Viv wrote from Songs From The Sparkle Lounge and I thought why not."

Def Leppard/Cruise Control

"My good lady wife of over ten years and mother of my child has really got the baking bug since we got home. It's autumn and the nights are getting longer and she does bake a hell of a custard pie. And that's why I chose that particular song. Not that I can eat too much of it. Not with the Down 'n' Outz tour of the UK in December just around the corner. Still gotta squeeze into those trousers folks. But that is Led Zeppelin from the album Physical Graffiti with Custard Pie. And before that from the album Songs From The Sparkle Lounge we heard Def Leppard and the Vivian Campbell track called Cruise Control."

Show Outro

"And with my wife being an American Girl and this band being known back in the USA as Mom's Apple Pie. What a great way to finish the show folks. It's been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at the same time. Until then I shall leave you with yes. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers with American Girl. Until next week see ya!."
