Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell has given a new update on his solo album recording plans.

Vivian began working on song rehearsals yesterday ahead of demo recording scheduled for 16th December. He is working with bassist Lou Castro and drummer Glen Sobel from his cover band Sir Sodoff And The Trainwrecks. The last update on the album plans was in September before his announcement of being in remission from Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Vivian first mentioned in January that the album would be a "guitar driven hard rock record" and recording would start in late summer. He then updated fans about the album again in May.

He was asked in late August about the album release date and the musicians he might record with. He plans to start working on demos in October with a potential release date in 2014.

"I got together with Lou Castro and Glen Sobel today to run through 5 songs for my new record. We'll be cutting demo tracks Dec 16th. Big excitement! Well, it is for me, at least..."

"A few peeps have asked questions about my upcoming recordings, so here are some of the facts: I'm making a rock record (lots of guitar). I intend to sing, however, I may ask a real singer to help out if I fail miserably at the demo stages. I'm also writing for Def Leppard (we all are) as Leppard will be recording new music in February. So, all in all it's a busy time creatively."
