Louisville, KY - Media Reviews

Def Leppard @ Louisville Gardens By Louisville Courier-Journal

Def Leppard seems destined to inherit Led Zeppelin's crown as king of the heavy-metal groups.

The vigorous rockers 'Photograph' and 'Rock Of Ages' from their new 'Pyromania' album pack the same kind of punch that Zeppelin's 'Dazed And Confused' and 'Communication Breakdown' had in 1969.

Lead vocalist Joe Elliott's distinctive vocal style and stage acrobatics raised the crowd's fervor to increasing intensities.

Sweaty, exhausted fans crished toward the stage and many had to be lifted over the barrier wall by security personnel.

Leppard scored with every offering including 'Billy's Got A Gun', 'Mirror, Mirror (Look Into My Eyes)' and 'Bringin' On The Heartbreak'.

The evening ended as it had begun with Axis back on stage jamming with Leppard's guitarist Phil Collen on Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Travellin' Band'.
