VIVIAN CAMPBELL Says DEF LEPPARD Will Play New Songs On THE STADIUM TOUR

Def Leppard 2022. Def Leppard 2022

Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell has been interviewed and talked about The Stadium Tour setlist and rehearsals.

The Stadium Tour is scheduled to start on 16th June in Atlanta, GA.

Vivian spoke to Dean Delray for the Let There Be Talk podcast.

Vivian talked about his early days in Belfast, Sweet Savage, DIO, Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore, Diamond Star Halos, The Stadium Tour 2022 and much more.

Vivian's part starts from 8 mins onwards and lasts for one hour and 20 minutes.

The Stadium Tour Rehearsals

Vivian said that the band will start rehearsing in mid May for the tour.

He also said they will expand the rehearsal time to two or three weeks rather than the more recently common two or three days due to the two years plus gap since the last full show in November 2019.

The Stadium Tour Setlist

Vivian said the band plan to play up to two songs from 'Diamond Star Halos' on the tour.

There will be limited time though as the band will probably play for 90 minutes as c-headliners (as with the stadium/arena shows in 2018 with Journey).

The band will work out the setlist when the rehearsals start but may include a surprise along with any new songs.

Vivian Campbell - April 2022 Quotes - (Transcribed by dltourhistory)

The Stadium Tour Rehearsals

"We start rehearsing. Normally we don't rehearse much in recent years because we tour so much. We just need a couple of days to get back in the stride."

"However because we've had - it'll be two and a half years at least since we played together. We've put aside about two, three weeks to rehearse."

"I tend to think though that we're gonna go in there and after two or or three days it's gonna be like 'OK let's go to he pub!'."

"But yeah so we're starting rehearsals in May. Second week in May."

The Stadium Tour Setlist/New Songs

"And the setlist. It kinda. You know it sort of decides itself really. I mean it is what it is."

"And especially because this is a four band bill. I mean we'll play for 90 minutes. Motley will play for 90 minutes. Poison will probably play for 60 minutes. Joan Jett will maybe play for 40/45."

"So, you know, it's not like we can play three hours and again, you know, you've gotta - you're beholden to the hits."

"But having said that we do have a new album coming out and we do wanna feature the new album."

"So we'll definitely be playing one or two new songs."

Something Different For The Setlist

"We'll also try and do something a little bit different. I mean from tour to tour we, you know, even though we're playing the majority of the songs don't ever really change. The big big hits have to be part of the show."

"We do try and make it a little bit different you know. Whether that's by doing a medley of songs. Or doing an acoustic set with some sort of medley or something new or something obscure."

"You know we'll get into that in May when we start rehearsing. And we'll get into the fine details of it."

The Stadium Tour Stage/Guitars/Equipment

"Yeah I saw drawings for it way back when in 2020 when we were going back then. And yeah we have very clever, very talented grown ups on the case as we speak you know."
