[Show Notes] :: Cap: 2,240. Supported by Ricky Warwick. First Belfast show since October 1999. Show was recorded but has not been circulated among tapers due to it's low quality.
Fan Review :: by Mark Well as I expected, we came, we saw and they blew us away, again!!! Def Leppard's first visit to the Waterfront and the lad's seemed very impressed with the venue, telling the crowd that they should be very proud of the place. I have to say I was amazed at how good the sound was and the atmosphere was superb. The set list speaks for itself, with the new tunes sounding great (four letter word especially)and Joe made reference to the fact that the Belfast show was the fasted sell out on the tour. Long Long Way To Go was dedicated to the Northern Ireland and England football teams (for obvious reasons) and "home boy" Vivian got a great reception as usual. All in all a wonderful night in a great new venue. So more of the same please lads a.s.a.p. PS. A special mention has to go to Ricky Warwick, who entertained us with some great stories and some even greater songs.
Fan Review :: by Wez Def Leppard's visit to the Waterfront Hall was met with a fired up and sold out crowd ready to witness Sheffield's finest (oh and Lisburn as well for Viv) and needless to say the Leps gave it 120%. Opening with 'Let It Go', the band took control of the stage, each member giving it their all to the crowd. By the time the band played 'Make Love Like A Man' the crowd really kicked into gear and responded with pure enthusiasm which was met with notable glee from Joe Elliott. Joe stalked the stage getting the floor and balcony going crazy. The band also delivered marvellous versions of 'Bringing On The Heartbreak', 'Hysteria' and 'Women'. The new material also sounded far heavier live than the studio versions. The last half hour of the show saw the band rip through classics such as an extended version of 'Rocket', 'Photograph' and 'Rock Of Ages' Encore came and we were treated to 'When Love And Hate Collide' and 'Let's Get Rocked'. After some witty and genuine banter from Joe and a completely drained crowd, the band left to a thundering ovation and a definite return from the band in the near future. All in all a great gig. Def Leppard done the business once again.
Fan Review :: by Karen Absolutely brilliant, never in my life; had just an amazing time. The crowd was brilliant, the sound was fantastic and I can't wait to see them again.
Fan Review :: by Eddie The wife and I where at the gig last night and it was totally amazing. A true rock show. Who says the lepps can't rock, my mates said they had gone soft, NO WAY the old tunes rocked as always. They sounded as good and heavier as ever. I really enjoyed the show as the last time i seen them was the Hysteria Tour 1988 in Belfast's Kings Hall. Well the show was sold out the quickest of the tour as said by Joe Elliott. The whole place was rockin I met some old friends from my younger head banging days and I also met new friends. It was good to see a new young generation of Leppard fans. Fans old and new rocking away. The band were brilliant, Phil's guitar playing was amazing. Phil and Vivian were brilliant together on Switch 625. Joe said he loves Belfast and we have always supported the band and they will be back. Viv got a warm welcome home - top guy. My wife knows his mates from his Sweet Savage days. I'm listening to the High 'N' Dry LP as I write this. By the way - we out sung and rocked the Dublin crowd! HA HA.
Fan Review :: by Neil McKay Wow, what a show, its the first time I have seen the band playing live, and in fact the first time I have ever heard most of the songs on their set, I was very impressed and on my way out in the morning to get all their albums. Best song on the nite, either 'Long Long Way To Go' or 'When Love & Hate Collide'. Phil Collen Rocks!!!.
Media Review :: by Heading Out Enormously good fun :: There was a time when Def Leppard were the biggest band in the world. Their 15 million selling 1987 album Hysteria set the standard for pop/metal for years to follow, and they were one of the few British bands to truly conquer the States. And while those glory days may be long gone, they remain a potent rock band who know how to put on a show. They filled the Waterfront last night with a surprisingly young crowd which showed they have at least partially bridged the generation gap. It was cheesy and predictable and cliched at times, but it was also enormously good fun. Singer Joe Elliott had the full range of mic posing and crowd baiting moves, Phil Collen and Belfast-born Vivian Campbell are a classic double act on guitar, bass player Rick Savage ligged around as only bass players can, and drummer Rick Allen anchored the sound. Allen, who overcame the loss of an arm in a car crash, proved the undoubted crowd favourite, receiving a sustained ovation when introduced by Elliott. Live the band are harder and edgier than on the airbrushed perfection of their albums - and all the better for it. You're So Beautiful and Four Letter Word, from new album X, show they haven't lost the knack of writing classic pop/rock anthems stuffed with memorable choruses. But, predictably, it was the old songs that stood out. Too Late For Love was an early highlight and the hits came thick and fast on a run to the finish that started with Women and included an extended Rocket, Armageddon It, Photograph, Animal, Pour Some Sugar On Me and Rock Of Ages. Media Story :: by The Telegraph Leppard Bites Back :: ROCK idol Joe Elliott of Def Leppard fame knew the score in Belfast this week when fans bantered him on stage over his beloved England's 3-1 defeat by Australia. Sheffield United fan Joe had the last laugh on a sell-out Waterfront Hall crowd when one of them held up a placard showing the England score. "Are you from Finland," he called back before launching into a number he dedicated 'to both our national teams... called Long Long Way To Go!'. © 2003.
