[Jan 7th] - Joe's Guest Vocals: Update

Much like his recent contribution to Earl Slick's 'Zig Zag' album, Joe is contributing his own lyrics/melodies to a song on a new project by ex-Montrose guitarist Ronnie Montrose. The album is to be called "Ronnie Montrose and Friends: 10x10" and is still being worked on.

The album features guest vocals by fellow ex-Montrose man Sammy Hagar and also Edgar Winter. The backing tracks are done with just the vocals to follow. No release date given - the album was talked about online as far back as March 2005 so Joe may have already made his contribution. Possibly also the reason why Montrose supported Lep in 2005/or where this first came about.

Joe's other unreleased guest vocal for Ian Gillan's album "Gillan's Inn" has yet to be given a release date. The album was finished as of October 2005 according to it's producer. As mentioned in previous updates Joe sings on one song with Ian (probably 'I'll Be Your Baby Tonight'):

[Nov 27th 2005 Ian Gillan quote] "Joe Elliott and I went out to a pub in Dublin many years ago after a football match and we got locked in afterwards. We were singing just to the landlord and his family and a couple of mates. There was a microphone, one guitar and a bar stool, which I used as a drum and apart from everything else we sang a load of Everly Brothers songs, in a private performance just for the sheer joy of it. So I called him up and said, 'Joe, will you sing on my record?' And he said, 'Count me in mate, I'm there!' So choosing this Bob Dylan song, there's something from each era and this is from my Episode Six period and I heard it from the BBC tapes. So I said, 'Do you remember when we did that sing song in the pub? Well, if you could do the other Everly Brothers part?' So it's me and Joe Elliott doing a Everly Brothers version of a Bob Dylan song. So I'm thrilled to bits!"

[Dec 27th] - Wot Phil Wants/Hysterical Visions

Phil. "In the I-have-it-all category, DEF LEPPARD's Phil Collen had to think for a moment about what he wanted. "A Starbucks card. I already have everything else." (Associated Press).

Heavy (& very good) US band Eighteen Visions have namechecked Lep in a story about their forthcoming album:

"Well, picture STONE TEMPLE PILOTS with DEF LEPPARD, maybe. And maybe MARILYN MANSON. One song, 'Truth or Consequence', has an AFI feel to it. But we wrote a song that sounds like it could've been on [DEF LEPPARD's] 'Hysteria'."" (MTV)

[Dec 14th] - King Kong

King Kong. Joe and his wife, Kristine attended the 'King Kong' film premiere at the Savoy Cinema in Dublin on December 13th. [News Exert] Curiosity to see just how successful director Peter Jackson, of Lord of the Rings fame, was in remaking the 1933 Hollywood classic was the main drawing point for Def Leppard's Joe Elliott.

"I've always been a bit concerned that a monkey could fall in love with a human being," the singer joked.

[Dec 7th] - Pollstar Awards Nomination

Def Leppard & Bryan Adams 2005 tour has been nominated for the Most Creative Tour Package at the Pollstar Concert Industry Awards. Held on February 15th 2006 at The Theatre @ Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
They are up against: Foo Fighters / Weezer, Gwen Stefani / Black Eyed Peas, Taste Of Chaos, Tom Petty / The Black Crowes. Since most of those were straightforward arena tours they must stand a good chance of winning.

The band have said they'll be doing a promo tour in Feb/Mar next year so attendance at this show is possible along with a possible performance. Depending on whether the voters are sensible enough to give them the award!.
