[Sep 24th] - Double DVD for Japan (Updated)

Both HMV and Tower records in Japan list a new 2DVD release which differs from the Best Of DVD details already announced. It has a different Japanese catalogue number (from Universal) and does not seem to be an unofficial item. Details:

"In 80s rock history monster rock band Def Leppard (untranslatable part...) which shine in these rare luxurious 2 DVD's which include bonus videos! Disc 1 has a collection of all their video clips. And disc 2 has more videos plus valuable not yet released footage. Furthermore commentary from Joe Elliott (interview)."

A rough translation. Both sites list this as being released on 21st Nov. [Update] This is confirmed as a Best Of The Videos 2 Disc release for Japan. Will be interesting to see what this new footage/interview is like.

[Sep 23rd] - Ricky & Joe/LLWTG?

A new Ricky Warwick interview from Belfast features a brief Lep mention:

"In fact, he spent most of last year on the road with Def Leppard, unveiling his new solo venture all around the word.
"It went down very well," he says.
"And the album has done really well, especially in the States.
"Joe Elliott (Def Leppard's singer) is actually my best friend; he produced Tattoos and Alibis, and he is going to produce the next one, which I've already started working on."
It must have been pretty daunting though, warming up a heavy metal audience with a one-man, acoustic show?
"It was at the start, but I've really started to enjoy being up there on my own.
"In fact, a few times Vivian (guitarist with Def Leppard) and Joe came on stage and sat with me.".

[LLWTG News] :: In other news the FMQB airplay list has again added Lionel Richie's version of LLWTG for airplay, this time on Oct 11th. It might be this is the reason for any delay in US news of Lep's single/album release.

[Sep 16th] - US/CAN Release Dates/Japanese Change

Universal Music in Canada have announced that "Def Leppard Best Of The Videos" DVD will be out there on Oct 26th. This confirms that the US/CAN releases should all be out on this day with the DVD at least having the same title as the UK/JAP versions.
The tracklisting/extras may differ from the UK one. US and Canadian release are usually the same day.

In other news the Japanese release date seems to have been put back to Thur Oct 21st. All but one of the Japanese music sites have changed the release date to this. The UK version will also be available as an Import there on the 25th. HMV lists CD1 of this with only 16 tracks (no Rock of Ages) - most probably a mistake.

[Sep 9th] - New LLWTG Vid/Best of DVD (revised tracklist)

The UK Best Of DVD has been announced with a new tracklist. It will now feature 33 videos. In addition to the previously mentioned 30 videos it will have a few bonus clips.

Including the USA Version of 'Long Long Way To Go' (probably to accompany the single),
'Armageddon It' (US Version), from US TV in 1988 plus,
'Slang' (The Director's Cut), the director being Nigel Dick.

It is advertised as having '33 classic videos plus 4 Hidden bonus performances'. It would seem that these are in fact videos 30-33 themselves. 33 being WL&HC (8min version) already listed as a bonus.

[Sep 9/15th] - US Release Date Mention (updated)

Washington USA Radio Station KATS 94.5 has listed "Def Leppard - Best Of" for a Tue Oct 12th release on it's scheduled releases page.

As with most of these schedule pages it's likely to be changed (as stated on the site) but it's the first listing for a possible US release date anywhere so far. (except of course it will be called Super Vault...).
They also list Korn's "Greatest Hits Volume 1" for the same day but this is coming out on Oct 5th. The other album listed, Sum 41's "Chuck" is due for release on this day according to their offical site.
(Last time X was out in Japan, USA/CAN then the UK).

[Sep 15th] :: Various news sites have mentioned 'Super Vault' being released in late Oct. Some quote Tue Oct 26th. This is usual for the US release to follow one day after the UK. The KATS site also lists Super Vault now.

[Sep 7th] - Best of Def Leppard (more details)

Best Of, October 2004. UK Music Press sources have revealed the tracklisting and cover art of the 'Best Of'.
(Expanded version of what was pasted into the news update below this one.)

"On October 25th 2004, one of the biggest British bands in the world, the multi platinum Def Leppard, will be releasing a "Best Of..." album and a "Best Of....." DVD.
The CD will come in two formats - a single CD, plus a limited edition double CD featuring one new track - a cover of the Kinks' "Waterloo Sunset".
Def Leppard's 1983 album "Pyromania" has just been certified Diamond in the US - this is given by the RIAA to albums that have sold over 10 million copies in the US ALONE! 1987's "Hysteria" was awarded the Diamond award last year for sales of over 12 million in the US."
(Last year being 1999...)

[UPDATED Sep 7th] - Best of Def Leppard/DVD/New Cover

It's now been confirmed that there will be a UK/European release called "Best of Def Leppard", a 1CD and Limited 2CD release. This limited CD will include "a brand new Def Leppard version of a classic hit song from the 60s.". Obviously one of the cover songs from the unreleased covers album.
In North America the release will be slightly different and will be called "Super Vault".
Not only that but there will be a new DVD, also called "Best of Def Leppard" with 30 videos (maybe not quite all of them) but from 1983 onwards (hopefully with extras).

The second Limited CD will feature a cover of the 1967 song "Waterloo Sunset" by British Group The Kinks. Eagled eyed people will have spotted a recent picture which made reference to this (of Waterloo Station): MORE
If you read what was here earlier I was making reference to this song and now someone else has...

[UK News Source] :: "DEF LEPPARD are to release both a "Best Of" CD and DVD on October 25. The CD comes in two formats: a single disc and a double one, the latter featuring a cover of THE KINKS' "Waterloo Sunset".

The release date for the UK is now 25th Oct (the day Joe is due to start Ricky's album). The person who gave me the UK info also mentioned that shop couldn't order Vault because of the Best Of, this ties in with the newsletter stating that this release is a "replacement" for Vault.

[Sep 3rd/5th] - 'Best Of' in UK/Rest of World

The new 'Best Of' release by Lep is now scheduled in various UK stores as being released on Monday Oct 18th. As previously mentioned the Japanese are getting an advance release of this new collection with a limited 2CD set also.
A rest of the world release would seem to be likely with a possible US release on Tue Oct 19th (US being usually the day after the UK, though this has not been listed anywhere). One other release date listed is Oct 15th for South Africa.

[Update] :: This info came from a local record shop near Leicester and the album has a definite release date for the date above but they have no details of the tracklisting yet.

[US News Exert] :: "The traditional fourth-quarter onslaught of greatest-hits sets continues this year with releases from Britney Spears (Jive), Mandy Moore (Epic), Macy Gray/Korn (both on Epic), Everclear (Capitol), Phil Collins (Atlantic), Def Leppard (IDJ).."
