Joe Elliott and Phil Collen recently spoke to VH1 Classic Radio about Queen's influence on Def Leppard as a band and their sound.
Phil Collen - "QUEEN were the most obvious reference point for all five of us to say that's the kind of band that we want to be in because they were everything. They were glam, they were grand, they were flamboyant, they were musical and they were clever enough to do entire songs with no guitars in them whatsoever and the most ridiculously simplistic drum beats like on 'We Will Rock You'."
Joe Elliott - "But still be a rock band as well."
Lep Trivia - Brian May of Queen was one of the first people Joe phoned after Rick Allen's car accident in 1984. Brian has also been the most frequent onstage guest at Lep shows. He once gave each Lep member Queen's full 16-CD back catalogue as a present.
