During the Hysteria tour in 1988 crew member Steve Cater sadly passed away. This wensite pays tribute 20 years on. Steve worked from 1987 to 1988 on the Hysteria tour as the bands boffin/electronics expert and was involved in helping with Rick Allen's drumkit on the road. He sadly died after a motorcycle accident before one of the two shows the band played in East Troy, Wisconsin on July 16/17th 1988 now 20 years ago. Steve is pictured below backstage during the early part of the US tour next to Steve Clark (with an interesting caption). Steve Cater RIP

Interview Quote - "Amongst the figures, though, the band were still courted by tragedy. In July, road crew member Steve Cater died of a brain haemorrhage before a show in Wisconsin." (Thanks to P. Cater for confirming Steve's pic in the tour programme). Link -- Hysteria Tour 1987-1988 Link -- The Def Leppard Story Page 2 |
