Like Paul Cook, Simon lives in London and is also a DJ/Producer in the dance music scene & one half of the dance band Pearl Avenue which he is working with alongside Man-Raze with Canadian singer/songwriter Joel Parkes. Simon has formed two record labels Surrealist Records (MR) and Derrida Records (w/ Pearl Avenue). He also has a remix production team called Beat Freak Junkies.
His brother Gerry is now a full time artist who has contributed artwork for Def Leppard. Simon talks about his time after Girl in the Man Raze UK Interview section.
Hard Rain-Movie Appearance
From mid 1985 up to the end of 1988 Simon played in a UK band called Hard Rain who supported many big name bands including The Alarm and Then Jerico. They played a headline gig at the Marquee Club in November 1987. The band composed the soundtrack for the 1989 movie "Forbidden Sun" featuring Lauren Hutton and Samantha Mathis and also appeared as the band in the film. Simon played the character Danny. The myspace page linked below features six Hard Rain songs, a complete touring history and a few pics of Simon with the band.
In 2007 Simon began playing with a London based band called Improvizone. They play live frequently in the capital and the free admission shows are described as "Recurring live music evening of electronic/ambient/chillout beats and soundscapes by people with amplified instruments and bits and pieces of technology." Simon's bass playing is featured on 14 free mp3s on their website from three of their 2007 shows. The music is very ambient and of high quality.
