[Show Notes] - 3 hour show (3-6pm) with Phil (absolutely!) and Simon as co-hosts. Phil phoned Pandora before the show to say he was stuck in London traffic in a protest march. Simon was driving them to the studio in Kent (south of London). They answered fan questions via email - including mine about the live show.

Transcript ::

(Phil phones from the car 3:19pm) [Host: Pandora] - "Maybe they are etherreal ghosts!...Phil are you actually on the phone with me?."
[Phil] - "I am I'm an etherreal ghost!. There ya go."
[Pandora] - "Wow. Hi Phil you are the legendary guitarist with Def Leppard and we've got some lovely emails coming into the studios asking you all sorts of questions and making you blush, no just kidding..."
[Phil] - "Oh it sounds good, can't wait."
[Pandora] - "Yeah, so and neither can I so excuse me before I ask you when you're in the studio who the hell you are and what you're doing in my box I want to know why aren't you in my box, Sir?"
[Phil] - "We are, well we were stuck on the Old Kent Road but now we're moving freely, There's this demonstration in London so we...Simon come and got me and we've just been sitting in traffic for over hour 'an half."
[Pandora] - "Hour and a half yes, wow."
[Phil] - "Awful but now we're moving and we're on our way so we'll be there soon - ish."
[Pandora] - "Excellent OK. Well we've got coffee for you an someone suggested Brandy but we're not sure about that bit but..."
[Phil] - "Well the coffee bit works. But you know I haven't had a drink for 18 years so i'll pass on that anyway."
[Pandora] - "Coffee and juice then."
[Phil] - "There ya go."
[Pandora] - "There you are. Look forward to seeing you very very soon though."
[Phil] - "Me too. Absolutely get out the car!"
[Pandora] - "OK get down here now!"
[Phil] - "Absolutely! we're on our way!"
[Pandora] - "And Simon Too."
[Phil] - "And Simon too he's driving, don't put him off now."
[Pandora] - "OK see ya later bye."
[Phil] - "Alright see ya in a bit."

[Pandora] - (Mentions emails coming in) "And I would like to say hello to some of the people that are emailing in, including Darren (who?...), and Phil and Damian..."

(Phil/Simon arrive 4:32pm) [Host: Pandora] - "Well they got here!. I guess it was the Blondie song they had to come in and comment on that 'Golden Rod' from her new album 'Curse Of Blondie'."
[Phil] - "Oh really was that Blondie?."
[Pandora] - "That was Blondie. Yeah. Hello!."
[Phil] - "Wow. Hello how are you doing?."
[Pandora] - "All right thankyou."
[Phil] - "Good, good, good. Sorry to keep you waiting. Bloody traffic!."
[Pandora] - "So the question is, Who the hell are you and what are you doing in my box?."
[Phil] - "We are Man-Raze or two thirds of it. I'm Phil."
[Simon] - "I'm Simon."
[Pandora] - "And Simon talk closer to the micriophone."
[Simon] - "OK."
[Pandora] - "Hug it, kiss each other."
[Simon] - "Uhh There we go."
[Pandora] - "And Phil you're also known for being in some band that's sort of made thousands of records."
[Phil] - "Yeah I have a day job...it's called Def Leppard. Which I'm actually - we're still on tour at the moment we actually - the reason we haven't started up again is so I could come over to England and do the Man-Raze thing because they said 'Oh what's the start up date?' And Rick Savage he lives in England so he's up in Sheffield. And I'm doing this down in London and we start up again on the 11th of October in Boston."
[Pandora] - "Ooh, Ooh. Well we've got loads of questions that have come in and I've said to people just send your emails and then sit back and listen and they've been listening to what I've had to rant about you!"
[Phil] - "I know. Well Done, I think, right?."
[Pandora] :: "Maybe not - maybe not. If I drank, I'm like you I don't drink, If I drank I'd want a whiskey at the moment, if I smoked I would have had a packet of cigarettes all day waiting for you but all I can just say is I tell you what I'll just relax for the moment and you can Pour Some Sugar On Me." (song played)

[Pandora] - "..Oh dear poor man. Cause he needs to go pee."
[Phil] - "I know. It's OK this position is alright - I always have this when I stand up. It's like not good but sitting down as long as you just stay sitting down."
[Pandora] - "Shall we do songs about water. Talk about the days of Radio Caroline at Sea "
[Phil] - "As long as I don't stand up then we can talk about water all day."
[Pandora] - "The voice is the legendary guitarist Phil Collen from Def Leppard. And the song from the whatever it was - the Hysteria album. I'm less hysterical now because he's walked in - was 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' and thankyou for coming in Phil. And Simon."
[Phil] - "No worries."
[Simon] - "Thankyou."
[Pandora] - "And I wanna hear really apart from - we'll go into a couple of emails in a minute but I don't want always for it to be my voice here so."
[Phil] - "Oh in that case, right."
[Pandora] - "I tell you what. Let me start with a couple of emails that ask you questions um - thanks for Pandora for arranging this thought I'd email in early - er which was at half past 2 - Phil what's it's like being in such a famous band? Us plebs can't even imagine it. Look forward to the new band's stuff. Dave in Croydon."
[Phil] - "Interesting - it seems normal. It is cause we all remain kinda the same as we were. But um now and again you go 'OK this is a bit strange' because like we just did Live 8 in States and there was a million people there. So you're playing away and you go 'OK this is a bit weird'. OK but for the most part it, it's normal totally normal. It's like even today you know me and Simon we drove out, we were in London, you know we was at Starbucks - it's all normal stuff."
[Pandora] - "You're not - you don't - in the 80s and the 90s people looked rock. You could - it was like that image."
[Phil] - "Yeah but we never really looked like that. I mean the whole Def Leppard thing was definitely - no, no we didn't. In Girl we looked a bit bizarre you know we had the whole make-up and we was kind of a Glam-Metal band or whatever you wanna call it."
[Pandora] - "But it was long hair."
[Phil] - "No, not really, not me. Ahh see."
[Pandora] - "No I 'spose not really no."
[Phil] - "No, so we always kinda reeally had a kinda a normal thing going. And we never really tried - we wasn't like an image band. And so what went along with that was the attitude - yeah we get out on stage and we write these songs and we act like that. But in normal regular day stuff you don't really...I live in the States for most of the part and a lot more people come up to me there and go 'OMG! You're in Def Leppard'. But it's usually when I'm pushing a trolley in the supermarket or at Starbucks. And stuff like that."
[Pandora] - "Not that we're plugging Starbucks. Over any other different...coffee....ahh I can smell coffee now. We have fresh coffee brewing in the studio courtesy of Neal thankyou."
[Phil] - "That will have to empty out before I have my next cup."
[Pandora] - "Bit too much information there. Thankyou very much. Um Jamie says Phil and Simon how did this new band start? And how will it fit in with your touring life Phil? And Pandora keep playing the good music Football or Pandora? Pandora."
[Phil] - "Oh that's nice. There ya go. Right on. I'll let Simon do this but just briefly getting it to fit in with the Def Leppard thing. Like I was saying before you know we're taking a break we start the Def Leppard tour again in October So I can do this as well. And you know I've got a lot of energy. I can do both. We could, we can actually, someone suggested that we support ourselves. We support Def Leppard at some of these shows."
[Pandora] - "Yeah."
[Phil] - "Which we'd be up for doing. And you know If I get 2 days off here and there - if Simon and Paul are up for it. Then you know I'll fly over whatever - whatever it takes is fine so."
[Pandora] - "There's a couple of bands that are doing that. I can't remember who they are but I think there is somebody else who's opening up for themselves."
[Phil] - "Well Dave Grohl you know he played in Queens Of The Stone Age as well and done all this and he's got A.D.D..he's got a lot of energy..."
[Pandora] - "A.D.D. Attention Deficit Disorder?."
[Phil] - "Yeah where you go 'oohhhh OK and I'm gonna do this now! and da da da da...' So I have a similar thing there."
[Pandora] - "A.D.D."
[Phil] - "Not really but it has been said. The doctor said you know "Perhaps we should test you should perhaps be on some drugs because we do think you have A.D.D." And I'm saying No I don't."
[Pandora] - "No it's just you're full of energy."
[Phil] - "Exactly. So anyway part 1 of that question which I rudely interrupted. Simon was gonna..."
[Simon] - "Was.. ."
[Pandora] - "Simon and if you talk right, right close to the microphone."
[Simon] - "It was a idea that Phil came up with. he was in London about..."
[Pandora] - "Talk a bit closer. Or talk louder - project!."
[Simon] - "I talk quietly..."
[Pandora] - "No you can't..."
[Simon] - "So yeah Phil was in London about a year ago um he was here looking after his father and he approached me with an idea of putting together a three-piece. Just very classic rock combo. He had the idea to have Paul Cook involved as well from the Pistols. So it was very much Phil's brainchild. We wanted to model it on all of our idols, we wanted to stand on the shoulders of the people that we loved. Like The Police, like Nirvana, like Jimi Hendrix Experience. And lo and behold we've actually managed to do that we think. Yeah we've really become a three-peice rock combo that you know quotes all of those people musically and you know it's been a real pleasure doing it."
[Pandora] - "Cause the third guy involved is Paul Cook from the Sex Pistols."
[Simon] - "Yeah, indeed."
[Pandora] - "And we'll hear a bit of Sex Pistols a bit later on. But so you're actually like going to diss everybody in government, in parliment, in the world and be rude about everybody and show your bums in public?"
[Phil] - "Well actually we diss quite a few in the lyrics. But you have to dig into them. I'm not gonna actually tell you what they are. But if you - yeah there's some stuff. Absolutely."
[Simon] - "It's great."
[Pandora] - "Cool. You're... - 'Skin Crawl' will be the single?."
[Phil] - "Yes."
[Simon] - "It is yeah it's coming out on our own record label - we've put our own record label together called Surrealist Records. It's gonna be released on the 24th of October. And so please keep an eye out for it."
[Pandora] - "And you can get it through my website. Most probably. Which is Pandoras rock box.com." (and mine...and their's...)
[Simon] - "Fantastic."
[Phil] - "Perfect."
[Pandora] - "This is 'Skin Crawl' by Man-Raze." (Skin Crawl plays - most cool final version.)
