Man Raze UK | Phil Collen Interview 2006

Total Rock Radio - 8th July 2006

[Malcolm Dome] - "...let's talk a little bit about Man-Raze. What's the current situation is that on hold because of Leppard?."

[Phil] - "Not because of Leppard actually. Because of us redoing the stuff we done. We'd recorded all bits and pieces, bits here and bits there. We went into Joe's studio in Dublin, the three of us and cut six or seven songs like kind of live and it was like WOW. We done it in a week and it sounded amazing, so much more energy and how we really wanted the band to sound. So it's a lot more rock and some of it's almost bordering on Oi! [there really is a genre called Oi!...] kind of punk but...we're actually trying to get on the Lollapalooza tour which falls in between...in Def Leppard we do like six weeks on and then we have a two week break. So what I would do is, hopefully if this comes off, is actually do a Lollapalooza show, you know even if it's just half an hour..."

[M. Dome] - "That'd be great. That'd be a real booster for the band."

[Phil] - "..it'd be - I'd love to do that. Yeah and if we don't do that we'll fill it in with some other Man-Raze type of thing you know whether it's a club gig here and there or more recording and stuff. And you know we've got all the songs for the album. Most of it's recorded and it'd just be tarting up the odd track here and there."

[M. Dome] - "So will the album be out this year do you think?."

[Phil] - "It...well we haven't got a label that's the other thing. Which we're either gonna...I don't think we're gonna put it out ourselves because, but we may do a licensing deal or something - but that's all wide open."

[M. Dome] - "Well we look forward to that and also to Leppard for many years to come, here's to the 50th anniversary!. Thanks Phil."

[Phil] - "Absolutely!...wow thankyou. Cheers." - Transcribed by Man Raze UK.
