[September 27th 2006] - The Spitz 27th Sep 2005

The Spitz dodgy venue ad 2005. Phil Collen The Spitz 2005. Exactly one year ago today a group of around 200 fans gathered at a little venue called The Spitz to witness the debut show by Man-Raze. Some fans even travelling all the way over from the USA (Oi).

A great evening and the music wasn't bad either. Hopefully to be followed up soon with the second show and the debut album release.

And yes it was the 27th despite what the board said...

[September 12th 2006] - Man-Raze Coming Soon

Simon Laffy has given fans an update via their myspace blog. The update from August mentions that "all 12 tracks" are now finished and they look forward to playing live soon.

Simon's brother Gerry has also given some info on the band's debut album whilst posting on YouTube. He mentioned having heard tracks from the album and stated that they were "Amazing!" & will "blow people away". He went on to say it "should" be out in early 2007.

There is still no word on when the band will follow up last years debut show. But there should be news coming soon with Lep off the road in November.

[August 6th 2006] - Album Update: Dig It

Phil has given another update on the band during a Lep interview. A lot more interesting this time - he says the band are currently in Dublin (@ Joe's studio) and hope to 'finish' the album off.

Exert - "I am getting ready to go over to Dublin to finish that record up. We should have something in the can within two weeks. When we started playing the songs live it sounded totally different from when we recorded them so we went in and redid the stuff. We also have written some new songs. It is sounding awesome and I am totally digging it."

[July 8th 2006] - Phil Update/MR @ Lollapalooza?

Phil has given another Man-Raze update during a Lep interview with Total Rock. He again mentioned the recent recording session from April in Dublin and the possible activity/album release later this year.
Phil also made a specific mention of a 'possible' US live show at Lollapalooza. If they get on the line-up it will take place from August 4-6 @ Grant Park in Chicago, during the tour break just a few days after the last Lep gig in Houston. (Update: The band haven't scheduled any shows and won't be playing here.)

[June 1st 2006] - Skin Crawl Studio

Whilst on a recent trip to London (with a fellow MR fan...*wink*) we took a detour to Westbourne Studios where Man-Raze's debut maxi-single 'Skin Crawl' was mostly recorded.
Quite a cool little studio complex. A pic outside the studio has been added to the Pics section.
This was after an aborted attempt to find Battery Studios - which incidently is where Girl recorded, when it was still Morgan Studios.
Update below wasn't linked on the updates page - check out the pics.

[May 5th 2006] - Studio Update

Phil has given a brief band update (a nice little plug) during the DL Rockline appearance on May 3rd:

[Host Bob Coburn] "What's going on with your side-project?."

[Phil] "Ahh I was recording it last week in Ireland at Joe's house actually. We've re-recorded a bunch of songs and they're amazing so...they come out so well we're gonna have to re do the others! So we cut six tracks in about a week. Which is fantastic you know a lot of it was live in the studio you know and then just overdub over the top of that. So that should be coming out this time...sometime this year. That's the Man-Raze album."

[Mar 30th 2006] - Paul Cook

I happened to tune in to the Tom Robinson Evening Sequence show on BBC 6Music earlier to find none other than Paul Cook talking about the band (& the Pistols) before they ended with a playing of "Skin Crawl". Click below for a full transcript of his words (Man-Raze part only).
