[Oct 29th 2005] - Pearl Avenue

In addition to being in Man-Raze, Simon Laffy also has another project going on called Pearl Avenue. Who have recently released a EP called 'In The Summertime' (Derrida001) on Simon's other independent record label Derrida Records. The band have an official website, featuring a humorous biography, and have plans to release a full album called 'Everybody Wants a Piece of Heaven' (Derrida002) on Feb 14th 2006.

Joining Simon in this project is Canadian singer/songwriter Joel Parkes and their music is very dance oriented - the complete opposite of Man-Raze (& good quality stuff).

[Press Exert] :: "combine melody and dance grooves to come up with a unique hybrid of contemporary club grooves and pop melody. Joel is the vocalist and Simon is the producer and groove-meister".
You can listen to 4 samples at their website and also purchase the EP at CDBaby (2nd link) and listen to four 2-min samples of each track.

[Oct 19/20th 2005] - Skin Crawl Pushed Back/Wallpapers

The release date for the debut CD 'maxi-single' has now been pushed back by a week to Mon 31st Oct.
Of course the blame for this is all Phil's! - he's in "Def Leppard" - hehe...

The Official site just added 2 Man-Raze wallpapers: one featuring a different band photo.

[Oct 9th 2005] - Radio/Album-Tour News

My new favourite band were featured on Bruce Dickinson's 6Music Rock Show again last night. 'Skin Crawl' received it's first airplay on the BBC and the band were briefly mentioned on Val's rock news. You may remember a feature on the show back in April (see past news).

It was mentioned that the album will come out (according to them) in January 2006 and that they will also tour at the time in between Phils Lep commitments. A UK Tour seems very likely.

[Oct 4/13th 2005] - Rock The Spitz (updated)

The band have today added a thankyou message and 18 pictures from the gig at their site. Also mentioning that some of the live footage shot will surface online.
And for those who didn't go - the shots from above were taken from a balcony which looked down on the stage. BTW Thanks to Simon for taking the time to thank me for my review...just to show you how nice these guys are.

Last night Man-Raze played their long-awaited debut live show in London @ The Spitz. Marking Phil's first show as the frontman of a band. Along with a few other lucky people (200-ish), I was in attendance and it was a great night.

[Oct 2nd/3rd 2005] - Phil Singleton has added some pics and a great review of the show at the Cook and Jones website. Ross Halfin has also now added 6 pictures. If you look at pic "man-raze05" I was taking pics of him at that moment (see galleries).

[Sep 24/25th 2005] - Radio Debut

Phil and Simon both appeared live (after a 90min delay) this afternoon on UK Radio Caroline on Pandora's Rock Box show. 3 new songs were played from the upcoming 'maxi-single' including 'Skin Crawl' & 'You're So Wrong'.
Phil also sang one verse live over the top of the studio version of 'Runnin' Me Up (Instrumental Dub)' which was very cool.

They both talked about the band's history and answered some email questions (including one from Darren-whoever that is...). They promised to come back and maybe play live in the future.
Incidentally it seems 'Skin Crawl' was played on the same show last Saturday - most likely the final version's debut on air.

[Sep 2nd/9th 2005] - Order the Single Online/Cover Art

The "Skin Crawl" single is now available to order online from Amazon UK. They seem to have the date wrong though (Sep 26th) instead of 24th Oct, as quoted by the band. The song is also apparently being played on the PA at US Lep shows as part of the pre-gig music mix.

[Sep 9th 2005] - The 'Skin Crawl' cover art has been added to the official site.
