[Steve] "When you're in the middle of Ireland do you have satellite?...Sky News and all that.."
[Joe] "Oh yeah we got everything. Soccer, you name it, we've got the lot. That's the one thing I miss here. If I want to watch a game I've got to get up at 7am and drive to Santa Monica to be able to watch it somewhere."
[Phil] "Can't you go to Steve's?."
[Joe] "I haven't been invited yet."
[Steve] "You're invited. Who D'you support?."
[Joe] "Thanks I'll be round tomorrow morning. Sheffield United."
[Steve] "You're not coming over then!."
[Joe] "Oh come on we're in the Boys league. You're not a West Ham fan are ya?." (meaning out of the Premiership and in one of the lower 4 Divisions.)
[Steve] "No. Chelsea."
[Joe] "Ah well there ya go then so you've got nothing to worry about." (Chelsea are top of the Premiership.)
[Viv] (singing) "Blue is the colour. Football is the game...apparently.. is that how it goes?"
[Steve] "Ya just jealous Viv."
[Viv] "I used to be a Chelsea fan when I was a kid."
[Joe] "He was a Chelsea fan until about 5 years ago when he decided to support Leeds."
[Viv] "No 12 years ago."
[Joe] "Was it that long? Good grief."
[Steve] "You was a Chelsea fan?."
[Viv] "I was a Chelsea fan as a kid. I had an Ian Hutchinson kit with like the number 10 on the shorts and all that stuff."
[Joe] "He was the guy that was double jointed and he could throw the ball for a mile..."
[Steve] "And why did you change to Leeds?."
[Viv] "Cause when I discovered when I heard Marc Bolan I gave up football. And I didn't play football until I was 27. I just lost touch cause I was over here for years and lost touch with football and Chelsea. Then when I joined Def Leppard you know they watch a lot of football so they said 'Who do you support?' And I thought well geez I don't have a team anymore and Leeds United were doing really good.
I always remember Leeds...You remember 1970 the FA Cup? and the replay..."
[Steve] "I know why you went with Leeds...you fancied Billy Bremner's legs."
[Viv] "Yeah so Leeds were always a team I had a lot of respect for and it also was a time when they were top of the Prem..so. Or they'd just won the last First Division." (which became the Premiership)
[Steve] "So are you still supporting them now?."
[Viv] "I don't know now they went to the Boys league I don't..."
[Steve] "You're back to Chelsea?. Fairweather."
[Viv] "No I just like watching football or playing it you know. I don't really follow a team anymore. I think i'll give up the football for a while. (in accent with Joe) "Gordon, 8 bloody 1!."
[Steve] "We have a good laugh though down at Hollywood United."
[Viv] "Yeah it's good, some good players ya know...um."
[Steve] "Thanks!." (laughter)
[Viv] "I wasn't talking about you! I was thinking of a few of the other lads but there you go Steve."
[Steve] "I know you meant me."
[Viv] "Well at least you and I we've got Brazil shirts we can be pretty flash."
[Joe] "Yeah you look good."
[Steve] "You can get away with murder in a Brazil shirt."
[Viv] "Yeah they think you're good if you've got a Brazil shirt." (Brazil are the best national team in the world.)
[Steve] "Shall we play a song and then come back out of that song and do a bit more acoustic stuff?. Oh Shabby Tiger you gotta hear this. This is a blinder this is, take it away me old son."
(After break & songs) [Steve] (9:22) "...and that was Showwaddywaddy with 'Hey Rock And Roll' Classic two bobs worth. And then we had Chickory Tip from 'The Best Of Chickory Tip' and Joe was telling me there's a better song than.."
[Joe] "Yeah. 'Good Grief Christina'. It's rock!."
[Steve] "That was a better one?."
[Joe] "He he Yeah as a ten year old kid it was yeah. Oh dear."
[Steve] "I remember them,. the outfits thing. Look at these guys they're outrageous with them two bob..."
[Joe] "Yeah but can you imagine that they actually really meant it?. I mean surely trying them uniforms on for the photo shoot they must have been goin' 'Please No! don't make me wear this'."
[Steve] "Well the week before they were probably brick layers or something..."
[Joe] "Well I suppose if it was their one 15 min spot..."
[Steve] "That song we played was 'Son And Me Father'...'Son Of My Father'. And then we started out the two bob three with Shabby Tiger 'Slow Down' was the name of that song. Did you enjoy them?."
[Joe] "Gorgeous. Yes, marvelous."
[Phil] "Thoroughly." (both sacastically)
[Viv] (chips in) "No!."
[Joe] "Shabby Tiger was great but the name of the band is better."
[Viv] "I liked the Chickory Tip one I remember that. Little memories."
[Steve] "What memories do you have as a kid Viv...of music?"
[Viv] "Oh well you know..."
[Steve] "Who did you like on Top Of The Pops?"
[Viv] "Well like I said before T. Rex...Marc Bolan. 'Telegram Sam'."
[Steve] "That's what did it for you..."
[Viv] "Did you play that?. Well you were whistling that yesterday. That was my big song. Did it all for me. Bye Bye football."
[Steve] "When did you first start playing guitar?."
[Viv] "About 9. 8 or 9 and um.."
[Joe] "He's one of them that practiced."
[Viv] "Yeah well I did then, I started practicing again recently though."
[Steve] "You don't need to practice mate."
[Viv] "No it's alright. It's good to go in different directions I've been playing the blues a lot you know. ."
[Steve] "Ugh blues..."
[Joe] "Woke up this morning..."
(stream cut but Viv had been talking about his influences and Rory Gallacher.)
[Steve] "I've got to get one of his albums actually."
[Joe] "I never really listened to Rory Gallacher he didn't make it across to Sheffield."
[Phil] "To Ireland!." (laughter)
[Steve] "Can you give me a da, da da da, da da. Anyone on a guitar, in E."
(Viv plays and Steve sings: started with "I woke up this morning, I had a wank..." etc...short Blues type song.)
[Steve] "See, Easy."
[Viv] "Wow when you have talent like you..."
[Steve] "You can make it up as you go along."
[Viv] "But for the average Joe it's..."
[Steve] "He's talking about you Joe."
[Viv/Joe] (at same time )"I'm/He's not the average Joe..."
[Joe] "Yeah i'm on your side there. That's the blues for me."
[Steve] "Yeah you've heard it once. They're like Ford Capris, you've seen one you've seen 'em all.."
[Viv] "That's not true." (plays his guitar)
[Steve] "How about a little Bowie..Spiders.."
[Phil] "Sounds good to me."
[Steve] "Spiders from Cornwall.."
[Joe] "Why don't we do er..."
[Steve] "We got Def Leppard here in the house and they're gonna do Ziggy played guitar..."
[Joe] "This is 'Ziggy Stardust' in the key of... (Steve) Z."
[Viv] "Slightly in tune."
[Joe] "Good enough. We're alive and live only."
[Steve] "Alive alive O."
(Viv/Phil/Joe/Steve play 'Ziggy Stardust' acoustically Steve played along with each song. Joe's vocals sound really fresh.)
(stream cut after song miss a few seconds.)
[Steve] "What's that?." (after Viv or Phil started playing a riff)
[Joe] "That's you."
[Steve] "Is that Supertramp, are we doing Supertramp again?."
[Joe] "hehe Sex Tramp again. Yeah we must tell everybody about Sex Tramp. "
[Steve] "We'll be back in a minute."
(After break) [Steve] (9:29) "...with my guests Def Leppard. And er Is that right? Breaking News...Paul Rodgers from Bad Company and Free is joining Queen..."
[Joe] "Queen yup. It's not actually breaking news it's been on the odd website. But yeah Queen and Paul Rodgers have got together. I don't think (John) Deacon's involved he's kind of gracefully retired from it."
[Steve] "The bass player."
[Joe] "But Roger and Brian are going out with Paul Rodgers and somebody else on bass I guess doing Bad Company and Queen songs. I don't think they're making an album. I think it's just like a live European Tour. And they're gonna see how it goes and what kinda reaction they get."
[Steve] "Make a bit of dosh."
[Joe] "Yeah I guess so I think what it is more is the fact that they've not actually been able to perform you know for 12 years. Other than just like little gigs and they're probably missing it you know."
[Steve] "Wasn't..weren't George Michael gonna join Queen at one point?."
[Joe] "Yeah there's been all sorts of rumours George Michael, Robbie Williams."
[Phil] "George Michael actually done great versions of Queen songs. D'You hear him singing 'em? He's actually really good."
[Joe] "When he did 'Somebody To Love' at Wembley it was arguably better than Queen's version. I thought, it was brilliant. Of course 'Tie Your Mother Down' was the best thing all night. Oh that was me sorry..."
[Steve] "Maybe er was that a buzz doing that?."
[Joe] "Ohh yeah!. It really was it was wierd. The biggest buzz though for me and probably him as well (Phil) was going back on for 'Dudes' Cause we did backing vocals with Brian May."
[Steve] "'All The Young Dudes'..."
[Joe] "..with Ronson, Bowie and Hunter all on stage you know doing 'All The Young Dudes' which was pretty..as a three minute moment probably the best wank-off I've ever had."
[Phil] "It was great actually."
[Joe] "Yeah, really good."
[Steve] "Maybe er we should give Max Bygraves a call maybe he'd be the singer for Queen."
[Joe] "Yeah Max'd be good. 'Let me tell you a story'" (mimic's his catchphrase)
[Phil] "I think we should get back on a Jimmy Saville thing."
[Steve] "Tommy Bruce maybe."
[Joe] "Yeah, I like the look of this guy he's got..he's got a great chin."
[Steve] "Tommy Bruce & The Bruisers." (laughter)
[Phil] "So we got the boxer sorted out..."
[Joe] "Where do you find this stuff?."
(few seconds of audio missed)
(plays songs including the brilliant 'Moonage Daydream' (studio version) by Cybernauts, one of the best things Joe and Phil have ever done, Plus a Clock song sung by Viv.)
