[Steve] "I've known 'em years. "
[Dick] "Sweet guys though right?"
[Steve] "Very sweet. We played soccer (on) sunday and Joe Elliott was in town and I was like 'why don't you come on the show' and he was like 'ohh alright'. And here they are."
[Dick] "And they got their instruments as well I saw. I saw people setting up."
[Steve] "Yeah, we're gonna be doing some acoustic stuff. I don't know what we're gonna be doing but.."
[Dick] "You gonna be singing? you gonna be playing?."
[Steve] "I brought my guitar just in case. But Phil and Vivian have brought their acoustics."

Def Lep Section ::.

(After Action & The Faces) [Steve: Host] (8:30pm) "And In the studio we have Def Leppard."

[Phil] "Hello."

[Joe] "Good evening Good Morning."

[Steve] "How are you?."
[Phil] "Good."
[Joe] "We're groovy. My legs still ache actually after the other day."
[Steve] "After playing footy?."
[Joe] "Yeah. Great goal by the way!. I meant to tell ya..stonking 25 yarder."
[Steve] "Yeah. I haven't stopped thinking about it."
[Viv] "I'm sure (sarcastically)."
[Steve] "What d'you mean?."
[Viv] "You don't get many do ya? So you'd need to be thinking about it for a while."
[Steve] "I always get 'em. You're never there. What ya talking about? You're always driving around in your Porsche."
[Viv] "Yeah. Dead on."
[Steve] "Flash Sod."
[Viv] "My used Porsche."
[Steve] "Yeah that old one. D'you remember I had a real one?."
[Viv] "Yeah. I remember you had a real punk rock automatic covertible transmission Porsche..."
[Steve] "Whatever I do mate's, (is) Punk Rock."
[Viv] "Yes. Yes Steven."
[Steve] "You do understand don't you? (in posh accent)."
[Viv] "Yes. Yes Darling."

[Steve] "What you guys been up to?."
[Joe] "We haven't been up to a lot recently..."
[Phil] "We was in Germany. Couple of weeks ago - month ago."
[Joe] "Celebrating 50 years of rock 'n' roll on ZDF. It was a very bizarre show. It was us and The Cure and Chris De Burgh..."
[Phil] "..and Joe Cocker... "
[Joe] "Joe Cocker."
[Phil] "..and Chuck Berry...it was really weird but it was a lot of fun. But I got sick. I got this sinus thing and it's like...I've had it for ages."
[Steve] "The Flu thing?."
[Phil] "Yeah. Horrible. But then after that we're gonna tour this summer like June I think we start."
[Joe] "We got 2 albums in the can. We got a 'Best Of' coming out soonish..."

[Steve] "Who produced them?."
[Joe] "Well, we did."

[Steve] "So you don't ever talk to old....M...."
[Joe] "Mutt? Yeah, well obviously with the 'Best Of' a lot of the stuff is stuff that Mutt produced But there's a bunch of stuff on there that's come out since...we haven't worked with Mutt since...we did 3 songs with him in '99. He's busy doing Shania all the time now..and who can blame him?"
[Steve] "Yeah I know. I'd like to do her too... What was it like working with him? I know this is probably a boring question."
[Phil] "I think it's great it's actually like an education. It's like fun. And a lot of people go 'Oh he's a perfectionist' and all that. Not really, just he knows what he's doing."

[Steve] "We ain't interrupting you are we Viv?" (to Viv who's been doodling away on his acoustic/tuning up.)
[Viv] "Yeah you guys just keep on.."
[Steve] "Jesus."
[Phil] "Keeping on rocking on over there...So no, no it's always fun and he's so good it's just amazing. He's really cool."
[Joe] "He just wants to get the best out of ya, y'now and it is a bit...it can be a bit frustrating..."

[Viv] "Did he do that?, that you played yesterday that '5705..' City Boy...He produced that right." (breaking in talking about City Boy's "5.7.0.5.")
[Joe] "Yeah. He did."
[Viv] "That thing that you said was stadium rock or.."
[Steve] "Whatever I don't know. It sounded like it with the intro..."
[Joe] "That song when it was first written. The first demo of that song it was actually called, er get this, it was called 'Turn On To Jesus' And Mutt said nah, ya know it's never gonna be a hit. So he made them think of something else and they came up with a number. That was the best thing that they could come up with."

[Steve] "Were they. I didn't know much about them were they an English band?"
[Joe] "Yeah. They were kind of like...you know like Barclay James Harvest were always regarded as like the poor man's Moody Blues. Well they were the poor man's 10CC."
[Steve] "Right. Gotcha."
[Joe] "Yeah. They were English. I think they were from Birmingham (Berrmingham..) (mocks accent/others join in)."

[Steve] "Yeah I always wondered..cause I heard these stories about Mutt Lange. About how, ya know was he driving you crazy cause..I thought you'd just got tired of him, and that's when you started doing your own albums."
[Joe] "No you get tired of it when you're doing it only because you're young and you wanna get out there. You see all these bands putting albums out and all of a sudden you're still sitting and waiting. I remember Jagger made a comment once. We were recording in Holland and er we were doing 'Hysteria' and er..."
[Phil] "Mick...he he. Our mate Mick..."
[Joe] "Mick yeah. He came in to do his first solo album and we were still finishing Hysteria when he came back to do his second one, ya know. Argument would be like who bought either of his albums...but you know it was worth the f***in...scuse my French, it was worth the effort."

[Steve] "Would you, would you consider having him produce another album?."
[Phil] "Absolutely, Yeah. But ya know he doesn't really like producing very much anymore."
[Joe] "I think it would be more realistic that we might do a couple of songs with him. Go over, work for a couple of weeks get a couple of songs maybe 3 songs out of him then do the rest on us own. You look at all the greatest records in the world and there's only two or three tracks that ever get played. Um I think we've reached that stage at our age where we don't wanna be spending 3 years making a record."
[Steve] "Especially this day and age it would cost a fortune."
[Joe] "Yeah you don't need to anymore all the equipment we've got. We spent a lot of time on that record doing stuff that you can do now in 5 minutes but they didn't have the equipment back then. So you had to physically do it. You ever seen 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'?"
[Steve] "The movie?."
[Joe] "Aye, yeah there's some dance scenes in there and you think they must have took weeks to work out, I saw it last night for the first time he he..., like nowdays they'd just super-impose everything on a blue sceen, just one person doing it. Back then it took forever because they didn't have any other way of doing it. It was still like that even in the 80s. How's that song coming Viv?" (who's still playing away...)
[Viv] "It's going good thankyou. It's blue."
[Steve] "He's a noisy sod isn't he?."
[Joe] "Yeah you put a guitarist on a stool with a guitar and they tend to play 'em."
[Viv] "Yeaah." (after an end note...)
[Joe] "Especially when they're as good as these two are."
[Viv] "Oh please Joe."
[Steve] "They're rubbish the pair of 'em. I'll knock their socks off with my 8th notes."

(Viv starts playing a Sex Pistols riff and Steve sings along "Pretty, we're pretty vacANT!")

[Joe] "We actually had a great idea for a band called 'Sex Tramp'. Where we played Sex Pistols songs but we sang Supertramp lyrics over the top."
[Steve] "Brilliant."
[Joe] "So you end up with....'Dreamer, must have been a dreamer...'" (Joe playing and singing)

(Steve joins in with 'DreamER!!!' in Pistols style vocal)

[Joe] "That's exactly it! You must have been in on the conversation. Yeah we never got round to doing it but one day we will."
[Steve] "Let's do that again."
[Joe] "Sex Tramp. You play it better than me." (to Phil)
[Phil] "What? where you starting it?."
[Steve] "God Save The Queen..." (go into 20 seconds of Steve singing 'Dreamer' over Phil playing guitar)
[Phil] "Sex Tramp. First gig."
