Show Intro

"Well that's it then. We're done. Wow didn't that fly by quickly since The Leadmill on the 19th May. And look at it now well into July. Ahh just wow. Wow indeed. What a fantastic 8 weeks we have had. Thank you all you people in Lytham who stood the cold. Thank you all you people in Dublin who stood in the rain. And Glasgow my goodness. it was biblical the rain. But nobody moved. It was incredible. What a fantastic way to end the show although I would rather have done it in the sun and a little warmer. But you know what rock and roll sometimes you just have to do it in the mud and the rain don't ya. Not tonight though. We've got sixty minutes where I'm actually in my studio. No rain, no wind and ahh just some wonderful music. Now I wanna take us back to last Saturday when we were playing Wembley Stadium. Had I not had a gig that night it's quite possible I would have been over at Crystal Palace for the Dog Day Afternoon. Headlined by this gentleman. This is Iggy Pop."

Iggy Pop

"Yes both gigs running simultaneously on the same day. One in Wembley and one at Crystal Palace. And as I said I would've been there had I had a chance. What a fantastic line-up. The Lambrini Girls, Siff Little Fingers, The Buzzcocks, Generation Sex, Blondie and the gentleman that we just heard there. Who I also saw the the Sheffield Top Rank way back in 1976. There with the title track of the album Lust For Life is Iggy Pop."

Ratt

"Now I'm gonna be revisiting the line up for the Dog Day Afternoon festival later on in the show. But for right now couple of songs where the titles lead to a quite humorous story of something that happened to us this week. Let's get it started shall we. This is Ratt."

"And before that Ratt. Massive song from the 80s. Round And Round."

Simon Dupree And The Big Sound

"So why am I playing Simon Dupree And The Big Sound back to back with Ratt?. Well here's why. When we left Luton airport to head to Blackpool airport we were just coming in to land when we took off again. Back up into the skies. And the second in command came down and said to us 'Sorry gentleman and ladies. We couldn't land because somebody's flying a drone ' right on our approach route'. So we have to go up until we can get it cleared and go round and round and round. And then they came back and said actually it wasn't a drone it was a kite. Yes some muppet was flying his kite next to the airport. Which is just highly ridiculous. Anyway the police finally tracked him down and dragged the character ot of the way and we were able to land. But I just thought it would be funny to play those two songs back to back because it was a kite that stopped us landing and we went back up into the air and we went round and round for 45 minutes until we could land. But we still got there in time. It was all well and good. So there you have it. Simon Dupree And The Big Sound with a song called Kites."

Jethro Tull

"Well never having been shy to not use an Alan Partidge style link at any given time. No matter how tenuous that link is. I just couldn't resists this one. As we were leaving Wembley to go to Blackpool. We literally were going up the pool from down the smoke below. I just couldn't resist. This is Jethro Tull."

"And before that Jethro Tull. From originally a five track seven inch single but it also featured on the best of compilation at the time in 1972 Living In The Past. We heard Up The 'Pool."

Billy Joel

"And as we were sitting around the airport at Luton whose plane landed because he was coming in to play Hyde Park?. None other than Billy Joel. Who you may have read over the last few years I've been up on stage a couple of times with him and played Pour Some Sugar On Me. Billy playing the piano and singing backing vocals. Very strange but very wonderful. We had a quick chat and off he went to Hyde Park and off we went through security and flew up to Blackpool for the show in Lytham. So I just had to play some Billy Joel as well. From the album Glass Houses. My favourite ever song by him. A track called All For Leyna."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show from home. The tour is over for now. Well we've got a month off. Coming up, some absolutely epic 10CC."

10CC

"We heard 10CC from that fantastic album that is Original Soundtrack. Way back in 1976. The song that we heard Une Nuit A Paris or to you and me One Night In Paris."

Blondie

"Right then we're gonna revisit Dog Day Afternoon. This is Blondie."

"And before that we heard Blondie who were also on Dog Day Afternoon. But I saw them on TV at Glastonbury where there's still a couple of original members there as well. Of course Debbie Harry fronting it. Clem Burke on drums. But who was playing bass fpr Blondie?. None other than Glen Matlock. The Sex Pistols Glen Matlock sharing the same bill as Generation ex featuring two members of the Sex Pistols as well. Funny old thing music isn't it. And what did we hear from Blondie there?. From the album Parallel Lines wonderful song called One Way Or Another."

Buzzcocks

"You know what line-ups will come and line-ups wil lgo but the music will never change. As long as we've got that it doesn't really matter. That's the Buzzcocks with barely an original member left. Maybe two. They played Dog Day Afternoon and they played that song. And aren't we all glad they did even though I wasn't there. A little bit of work called Ever Fallen In Love."

Show Outro

"Well as you can probably hear my voice sounds like a piece of leather. That has been beaen half to death by a blacksmith's hammer. That's what happens when you do the last three shows of an eight week run in the freezing cold rain. Let's make sure that I'm OK for next week by knocking it on the head right now and saying it has been an absolute pleasure to bring you this show just a couple of days after we finished touring. And I love my music so much I would never even think about not doing this.

"But I should shut up now. But one thing left to celebrate?. And I say that with a question mark on the end of it because is this really a happy anniversary. At the time it didn't feel like on to me. But now I guess we now all say forgive and forget. On the 3rd of July 1973 David Bowie split The Spiders From Mars live on stage at the Hammersmith Odeon. And I'm gonna finish this show with that particular statement and song. So until next week see ya!."
