Show Intro

"Greetings music lovers. Welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Great to be with you once again as always. What have we got lined up for you tonight. Well you know what it's like don't ya. It's sixty minutes of music that I think that you think that I think that we all think it's great. Alright. And what did I say last week when I played the Foo Fighters that I don't play them often enough. Well just like London buses, you wait around forever and two come at once. This is brand new Foo Fighters."

Foo Fighters

" I've only had an opportunity to play the thing twice but this new Foos album. Wow, it is very different to most of the stuff that they've done in the past. It's very uplifting. Very melodic and very exciting. Reminds me of mid period Queen. It's a wonderful record. It is called Medicine At Midnight. It's the Foos. The song is Love Dies Young."

The Pretty Reckless

"OK so from one brand new tune to another. And if love dies young, maybe it was death by rock and roll. This is The Pretty Reckless."

"And before that, hasn't Taylor Momsen come a long way since playing Cindy Lou in The Grinch That Stole Christmas. She's now a retired actress. She fronts The Pretty Reckless. And we just heard there from their brand new album. Title track Death By Rock And Roll."

Suzi Quatro

"She pretty much put pop rock music in the charts and on the map back in the early to mid 70s. And inspired so many girls to pick up an instrument. She is Suzi Quatro. There taken from a collection called Oh Yes We Can Love A History Of Glam. The huge hit from 1973 Can The Can."

Alice Cooper

"Well if Suzi Quatro put pop rock on the map, her good friend Alice Cooper put shock rock on the map."

"And before that we heard Alice Cooper. Quite probably my favourite ever Alice Cooper song. From the 1971 album School's Out, it is My Stars.

Queen

"Those two songs kind of play out as one song which is why I put them together. You can't really separate them. It is Queen from Queen II. We just heard Nevermore which was preceded by The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke which...this is a great story. That particular song is written about an unfinished painting by a gentleman called Richard Dadd who had been committed to an asylum in Bethnal for murdering his father. It's currently hanging in the Tate Gallery in London. It is unfinished. But it's a great bit of work and only a few years ago and this is even better. A few years ago Doc Martin got permission to replicate this painting on Doc Martin boots. A limited edition run of. I've got a pair and I've only ever worn them once 'cause they're just too nice. Great story."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. It's time for a little break and when we come back, we're gonna pay a visit to one of the most celebrated albums by Supertramp."

Supertramp

"And before that we heard Supertramp from the most brilliant of records Crime Of The Century with Hide In Your Shell."

Paul McCartney/Wings

"Written after a drunken challenge from Dustin Hoffman. Yes they were having dinner together on some remote island and Dustin Hoffman said to Paul McCartney write a song about Pablo Picasso. And viola he did. There from the album Band On The Run we just heard Picasso's Last Words (Drink To Me)."

The Quireboys

"Now this next band are probably best known for their high energy rock and roll party style performances. But they can also write a beautiful ballad. As we're about to hear. This is The Quireboys."

"And before that we heard The Quireboys. Our favourite party band. Taken from a collection called Masters Of Rock. It's a fantastic ballad. It is King Of New York."

Montrose

"Yes I'm afraid that pesky grim reaper has been knocking on the door once again. Albeit a name we wouldn't be too familiar with in the UK other than to a handful on Montrose fans. The name Bob James. Bob James was the replacement singer for Sammy Hagar for the third and fourth Montrose albums. He was a great singer. I always considered those albums to be a different band to the Sammy Hagar fronted Montrose. Very similar to the same way a lot of people thought Van Halen were a different band once Sammy Hagar replaced David Lee Roth. He did a sterling job though. As can be heard on the song that we just heard which is from the third Montrose album. Warners Brothers Presents. It's a remake of an old Allan Price tune called Oh Lucky Man which once featured as the title track to a movie back in 1973."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall ne back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then I'm gonna leave you with this. Having just heard the sweet rock tones of Mr. Bob James. We're about to hear a guy who sounds like he's been gargling with coal. From their best of collection and featuring the most brilliant Jimmy Barnes. This is Cold Chisel and You Got Nothing I Want. Until next week see ya."
