Show Intro

"Greetings one and all and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. On what is this fantastic Jubilee weekend. And I hope there are garden parties galore going off all the way from Land's End to John O'Groates and all points in between. And that you're enjoying your burger, vegan if necessary and your salad and whichever is your favourite tipple. And I'm hoping that this next sixty minutes can add to that wonderful experience. We are celebrating 70 years on the throne for Her Majesty. I think we need to start off with something quite regal don't you."

Queen

"Yes and it doesn't get any more regal than that does it. Incredible what Brian May can do with his guitar. In that introduction he makes those Elizabethan melodies sound like they could actually be played on trumpets. It's a fantastic achievement that Brian did on that particular bit of work. Which happens to come from the album Queen II. One of the greatest things that they ever did. We just heard back to back Procession followed by Father To Son."

Ozzy Osbourne

"Now from regal to tearing a page out of the diary of a madman. This is Ozzy Osbourne."

The Rolling Stones

"Now back in 1977, which coincidentally was also also a Jubilee celebration for the Queen of England, Keith Richards was not the Messiah, he was a very naughty boy. He cut a deal with the Canadian courts which is where it all happened. And they said that they would keep him out the clink if he did some small shows with The Rolling Stones. So The Rolling Stones benefited from this deal immensely. And so did we as fans because all these years later they have released these shows as El Mocambo 1977. Check this out."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up so happy that it hurts. Bryan Adams has drafted in John Cleese."

Bryan Adams

"Before that from his equally pretty new album Bryan Adams. The album is So Happy It Hurts. And the song which features a fantastic intro by none other than Mr. John Cleese. The song is Kick Ass."

Def Leppard

"Well I hope you can forgive me for playing yet another brand new Def Leppard song. And no doubt I will play one next week too. But the album is only a week old so it's very close to my heart right now. As is that song which I wrote on the piano. I love banging out tunes on the old Joanna. I don't do it very often but when I do I tend to get something a little different 'cause I don't really know what I'm doing and that's where the fun of it is. The song is Angels (Can't Help You Now) from the new Leppard album Diamond Star Halos."

David Bowie

"Now although I may have written Angels (Can't Help You Now) on the piano I didn't actually play it on the record because my rudimentary skills weren't really, you know, of any value to the finished recording. So we drafted in Mr. Mike Garson. Who has played piano with David Bowie since the Aladdin Sane album came out in 1973. If you're not familiar with his work but maybe you're familiar with The Rolling Stones song Let's Spend The Night Together. Listen to what he can do when David Bowie works that song with Mike Garson on the piano."

"And before that Mike Garson who himself guested on two tracks on the new Def Leppard album. But we heard him where we discovered him in 1973 on the Aladdin Sane album by David Bowie. On that very avant garde and jazz interpretation of the classic Rolling Stones song Let's Spend The Night Together."

Eddie Vedder

"Two of the most incredible and important rock and roll pianists in the history of music as far as I'm concerned back to back there. Ans both recently guested on other people's records. We just heard Elton John featured on the new Eddie Vedder album Earthling. The song we heard Picture."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this Jubilee weekend celebration show. Wow 70 years eh. 70 years on the throne. What an incredible achievement. Her Majesty the Queen has been such a fantastic ambassador for Great Britain and beyond. That I doubt us mere mortals will ever see the likes of anything like this ever again. So let's celebrate in the only way that I think we should. Go back to the 1977 Jubilee year. A song was released that was legitimately at Number One but was banned from all the charts. Um it put a lot of people's noses out of joint but it put the fire in the belly of a lot of young kids. Who formed some amazing bands. And I think that the Queen would have been sat on her throne and secretly going 'Hmm one can tap one's foot to this song quite easily.' I think she'd have liked it don't you. It is the National Anthem. But this is a version by the Sex Pistols. Until next week see ya!."
