Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Always a pleasure to be with you people but this week it's even more special. This is a very unique show tonight. Not only have I got some brand new music. We're also gonna be paying tribute to a couple of wonderful artists that we lost this week. But just a few days ago I had the absolute honour to have a fantastic conversation with Mr. Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters promoting his new book Storyteller. Now we were supposed to stay on track and talk about the book. But we went off on all sorts of different tangents and it was a fantastic time. We're gonna be hearing little snippets of this interview all the way through my show. More on that later on. But let's get back to that brand new music. For the first time in 28 years they have reunited on record. They being Axl, Slash and Duff. Yes this is brand new Guns N' Roses."

Guns N' Roses

"There's a four track E.P. scheduled to be released February of next year but for now we have that brand new music from Guns N' Roses. As I said at the top of the show reunited on record for the first time since The Spaghetti Incident in 1993. We've got Slash, Duff and Axl of course. A brand new song and a great bit of work called Hard School."

Foo Fighters

"So Dave Grohl what a guy. What a bundle of energy. To get us into the mood for part one of our little conversation here are the Foo Fighters."

T. Rex

"Boy did I miss a trick last week. About ten minutes after my show finished I had an email come in saying did you know that Electric Warrior is 50 years old today. I'm like No please don't tell me that now! I should of known before I did the show. So 7 days too late we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first album that I ever owned. And the first band that I ever saw live at the Sheffield City Hall in 1971. That is T. Rex featuring of course Marc Bolan. The album Electric Warrior. The song, the second hit single from that album, Jeepster."

"Before that we heard Part One of my conversation with Dave Grohl. What a guy. I mean what a guy. And leading us into that conversation we played what is my favourite Foo Fighters track possibly of all time. But absolutely right now. From their brand new album Medicine At Midnight we heard Waiting On A War."

"You're listening to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Soon some more conversation with Dave Grohl. But coming up I'm really putting the cat amongst the pigeons tonight."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Right here is some more conversation with Dave Grohl."

Status Quo

"And bore that we heard the mighty Status Quo from 1971. The album Dog Of Two Heads. The song Mean Girl. And I'm playing that because just a few days ago in his adopted country of Australia Alan Lancaster. The original bass played with Status Quo passed away at the age of 72. Which let's be honest is no age these days. It really isn't so rest in peace both Darrell Bath and Alan Lancaster."

Ian Hunter

"Well Ian Hunter is still very much still alive and kicking folks. But sadly the guitar played on the song we just heard is no longer with us. His name is Darrell Bath. He was such a gentle kind soul and taken way too young. Back in the 90s when I used to get up and do a song or two with Ian. I often drunkenly stood on his wah wah pedal. And he never really seemed to mind at all. He did stints with The Vibrators. With Dogs D'Amour. He had his own band The Cry Babies. But he was a very integral part of the 1993 Ian Hunter album The Artful Dodger. And the album that we just heard the song from. Ian Hunter's Dirty Laundry. And I played that song because not only does it sound like classic Mott The Hoople. But it really shows off Darrell Bath's great playing. The song is My Revolution."

"Right here is the third and final part of my conversation with the wonderful Dave Grohl."

Foo Fighters

"So there you go folks that concludes my conversation earlier this week with the wonderful Mr. Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters. That was followed by the latest release from their album Medicine At Midnight. The last track on the album as it happens. The song is Love Dies Young."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure, a real pleasure this week. So I'm not even gonna say as always. It's just a real pleasure. ."

"So until next week I'm gonna leave you with this. it's from their debut album in 1977. It is The Clash with What's My Name. His name was Dave Grohl, my name is Joe Elliott. Until next week see ya!."
