Show Intro

"Greetings everyone and welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Always a pleasure to be with you although obviously this week very sad to hear about the news of Taylor Hawkin's passing. Um it's just over a week since it happened which sadly happened just after I'd recorded my last show. So I didn't say anything otherwise obviously I would have done. What a life force that man was. An incredible drummer. One of the greatest modern drummers there's ever been. What a lovely, humble, sweet guy he was as well. He's gonna be severely missed by his family, by his band mates and of course by us his fans."

"We're gonna be celebrating his life tonight with a bunch of Foo Fighters songs that are gonna be in tonight's show. Mixed in with a lot of new music tonight actually as well which I think Taylor Hawkins would actually approve of. So let's get the show started tonight with this beautiful piece of work. The opening track from their latest album Medicine At Midnight. This is, including of course the wonderful Taylor Hawkins on drums, the Foo Fighters."

Foo Fighters

"Yeah I still can't believe it myself actually. Of course most of you will know that I've been through this myself with Steve Clark 30 years ago. So I know how the guys feel. All we can hope for is that they take a bit of time to let themselves grieve. Circle the wagons, and just wait it out and then decide what they wanna do."

"And of course life does go on and let's hope for the sake of the rest of the band and their fans that they do decide to honor his memory by carrying on. It's the right thing to do I think. They ultimately make that decision not me. But as I said it's so sad. That was the Foo Fighters there from the album Medicine At Midnight with the opening track Making A Fire."

Slash/Myles Kennedy

"More Foos later on in the show but for now here's some brand new music. Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, this is Slash."

"And before that Slash featuring the wonderful vocals of Mr. Myles Kennedy and his band The Conspirators of course. The album is simply called 4. The song we just heard The Path Less Followed."

Ghost

"I'm loving this new album by Ghost. It's jam packed full of some brilliant songs. The album is called Impera. The song that we just heard Spillways."

Von Hertzen Brothers

"Now these guys have been around for quite a while but they've yet to make the big breakthrough. Let's hope they can do it with this brand new album because these siblings are awesome. This is the Von Hertzen Brothers."

"And before that the Von Hertzen Brothers from a brand new album called Red Alert In The Blue Forest. The opening track the Day Of Reckoning."

Foo Fighters

"Now they made in my humble opinion one of the greatest rock videos of sll time to accompany that song. Fantastically well scripted. Brilliantly acted by the guys. Just makes me laugh every time I see it. It is of course the Foo Fighters from their 1999 album There Is Nothing Left To Lose. The song Learn To Fly."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up a very appropriate track for this weeks show. From an album that was 30 years old yesterday."

Def Leppard

"And before that Def Leppard from the Adrenalize album which was 30 years old yesterday. So happy birthday Adrenalize. I still can't get my head round the fact that it's half my life ago since that album was released. The song that we just heard was a tribute to our fallen warrior Steve Clark. Appropriate this week as it could easily fit Taylor Hawkins situation. The song we heard White Lightning."

White Lies

"Some more new music for you there from a band called the White Lies. The album is called As I Try Not To Fall Apart. And what a great album it is too by the way. The song that we just heard Roll December."

Marillion

"Right then here's some more new music for ya. This is Marillion."

"And before that brand new Marillion. The album is called An Hour Before It's Dark. A wonderful bit of work called Murder Machines."

Foo Fighters

"My third and final Foo Fighters song for tonight. But what a song!. In my humble opinion it's one of the greatest things that they've ever done. And inspiring for me to think that they're writing songs that good almost 30 years into their career. If it was the last thing that Taylor Hawkins ever played on it would have been a great way to go out. But a) it wasn't the last track on the album. And b) I know for a fact that there's music in the can by both the Foo Fighters and Taylor as a solo artist. So we do have that to look forward to at some time in the future. But what we just heard there is from their latest album Medicine At Midnight. The song Waiting On A War."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure albeit tinged with sadness because of the passing of Taylor Hawkins. But let's look at this as a celebration of the man's life. A man whose star burned so brightly maybe it was inevitable that it would burn out so quickly."

"But let's end this show on a high shall we. This last song is from a band who have decided to have one last go around. Yes one more lap of honour. And I for one will be going to see them either some time this summer in the States or this Autumn in the UK. They are Roxy Music. And here from their album For Your Pleasure is Do The Strand. Rock in peace Taylor Hawkins."
