Show Intro

"Greetings my fellow music lovers and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Great to be with you once again. Got sixty minutes of great stuff lined up for you this week. We're gonna jump straight in. In fact we're gonna jump on it with Montrose."

Montrose

"The fourth and final instalment of their relatively short career. That is Montrose whose first two albums were fronted by the mighty Sammy Hagar and final two albums were fronted by a gentlenman called Bob James who had a great voice. Sadly passed away just a little while back. It's the title track of their fourth album. Spring heeled Montrose is how Geoff Barton referred to them in the review in Sounds magazine. And how do I remember that?. Because as a kid I used to cut them out and stick them in the sleeve of the vinyl and occasionally you pull them off the shelf, take out the record and out falls the review. And you think oh my goodness I used to do that when I was a kid. Great album. Great song. Title track as I said from their fourth and final album Jump On It."

Lone Star

"Right then let's head west. And I don't mean California. I mean Wales. This is Lone Star."

"And before that from Wales the most brilliant of bands Lone Star. One of my favourite singers of all time fronting the band on that particular album. His name is Jon Sloman. The album is Firing On All Six from 1977. The song we heard which would have been a brilliant Led Zeppelin song is called Time Lays Down."

Yes

"I read an interview a long time ago where Rick Wakeman, who by the way is a very very funny man, referred to that album that we just heard a song from as Onion because it made him cry so much. It's an album that Yes made with past and current members altogether. In other words you had the likes to Steve Howe and Trevor Rabin playing guitar parts. The album is actually called Union and I'm afraid Rick Wakeman I disagree with you. I actually think it's a pretty good record. The song that we just heard Shock To The System."

Family

"Now talking of singers the front man for this next band has often been referred to as Marmite. In other words you either love him or you hate him. I love him. This is Family."

"And before that we heard Family featuring Mr. Marmite Roger Chapman on vocals. He's so distinctive. That's the reason I like him so much. Just straight away you know who he is. The album is a collection called The Best Of Family And Friends. The song The Weavers Answer."

David Bowie

"Released yesterday and what a release. This is David Bowie at his most rare. I think there's a disc of the first ever session for John Peel he did with Mick Ronson who'd only been in the band two days and had to learn like 20 songs. What an achievement. And it's got some fantastic 2020 remixes by Tony Visconti of things like the original version of Prettiest Star. Which featured Marc Bolan on lead guitar. It is an album called Width Of A Circle. It is David Bowie. The song that we just heard is the single version of Memory Of A Free Festival."

"Right coming up we're gonna listen to some Rumours from Fleetwood Mac."

Fleetwood Mac

"And before that from the 35th anniversary edition of the album Rumours. One of the biggest selling albums of all time. We heard Fleetwood Mac with one of Stevie Nicks' best ever vocals. The song Gold Dust Woman."

Python Lee Jackson

"That is credited to Python Lee Jackson. But as we can all tell it's actually Rod Stewart. Who apparently was paid a measerley four carts that you put in the footwheels of your car for doing that vocal as a favour. It's gotta be one of the best deals ever struck in rock an droll. Of course Python Lee Jackson whoever they were or are or used to be have long fallen into the realms of obscurity but Rod Stewart of course went on to be a mega star with The Faces and as a solo artist. The song In A Broken Dream."

Muse

"Now we know it's always a bit of a cliche to say what I'm about to say but I'm gonna say it anyway. Let's rock. This is Muse."

"And before that Muse from that amazing bit of work that is Drones with Reapers."

Motor Sister

"Featuring the enormously talented Mr. Jim Wilson on guitar and lead vocals. That is a band called Motor Sister. From an album called Ride. The song This Song Reminds Me Of You."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then let's spread our sad wings of destiny. Yes this is Judas Priest with The Ripper. Until next week see ya!."
