Show Intro

"Evening all and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the marvellous Planet Rock. Great to be with you once again as always. We've got lined up for you tonight in my humble opinion some magnificent music. Starting off with the immortal Little Richard."

Little Richard

"With an introduction that inspired John Bonham to play pretty much the same thing at the beginning of the song Rock And Roll Little Richard. And an attitude that just inspired thousands of people to wanna be rock and roll stars. That is the immortal Little Richard. Think about it that vocal, one take. Absolutely unbelievable stuff. It's from a brilliant 2 CD collection called Rock And Roll. It is Keep A Knockin'."

Ricky Warwick

"Now here's a couple of really great songs with even better titles. Starting off with Ricky Warwick."

"And before that a song that was inspired by Vivian Campbell's guitar tech Dave Wolff who used to use this phrase all the time when he was joking around. Ricky asked his permission, In fact he even gave him a writing credit. It is from Ricky's album When Patsy Cline Was Crazy And Guy Mitchell Sang The Blues. The song is If You're Not Gonna Leave Me I'll Find Someone Who Will."

Seasick Steve

"Now I love it when a writer really messes with the English language. You know things like opposites or oxymorons. Slang. They're all great arts of the rock and roll language. And we just heard there two great examples from 2008. The title track of Seasick Steve's album. I Started Out With Nothing And I've Still Got Most Of It Left."

Elvis Presley

"Now if you're a regular listener to my show you#ll know that on occasions and more often than I'd like. I often bring up the subject of the grim reaper coming around and tking another one off to the great gig in the sky. It's happened again this week. But this is a little bit different. One of the greatest people that I ever played with was taken this week. But it wasn't on a stage. It was on a football pitch. One of the most rock and roll people I've ever met Frank Worthington. He was known as Elvis to his friends. He was more rock and roll than most of the rock and rollers that I know. And he was a fantastic guy. And I could tell you stories all night long about Frank Worthington. He was a great. He was a good mate of ours. He played for Def Leppard in many charity games. One specifically I'll never forget at the New Den. Millwall's ground when it had just opened. So I wanna play these next two songs to one of the most rock and roll guys that I have ever met. Rest in epace Frank Worthington."

"And before that it was his name. His nick name so I had to play some Elvis didn't I. From the collection...from the original soundtrack of the movie The Searcher we heard the immortal Hound Dog.

Heavy Metal Kids

"So imagine the scenario. Def Leppard are playing in a charity game. We get a penalty and old big head here decides I'm taking the penalty. Oh no you're not says Frank Worthington. Takes the ball off me puts it on the spot. And as he walks p to take the kick. Instead of just kicking it he kind of steps over it and puts his kicking leg behind his standing leg and kicks it sideways almost. And it just went over the bar. And I said to him oh tough luck Frank. And he said tough luck?. It was supposed to hit the bar, come back out and I would volley it in. He was that good. And that confident in his own abilities. Great great guy. We just heard, perfect for him. Rock 'N' Roll Man from the debut album by the Heavy Metal Kids ."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the marvellous Planet Rock. It's time for a little break and when we come back, well if it's not our catch phrase what is it."

Bad Company

"And before that Bad Company from their third album Run With The Pack with the wonderful Live For The Music."

Fanny

"There's a documentary coming out that features the likes of yours truly, Earl Slick, the voice of David Bowie. All about that band and how they were absolute game changers and trend setters for all female bands. They are Fanny. It is taken from their box set First Time In A Long Time. Brilliant bit of work called Blind Alley."

Cheap Trick

"Now here's a band that I really really just couldn't play enough of. This is Cheap Trick."

"And before that from their album The Latest which came out in 2008 I believe. It is Cheap Trick with Closer, The Ballad Of Bert And Linda."

John Miles - Highfly

"His breakthorough single in 1976 that is John Miles from the album Rebel with Highfly."

Brian Eno

"Right then it's bonkerzoid time. This is Eno."

"And before that we heard Brian Eno. From the album Here Comes The Warm Jets. Really wearing his Velvet Underground heart on his sleeve with a song called Needles In The Camel's Eye. Ouch!."

Mick Ronson

"From the 1994 posthumous and final Mick Ronson album Heaven And Hull that is a song called Colour Me. Which actually features yours truly and David Bowie on backing vocals. In fact David Bowie sings the low lead vocal duet harmony with Ronson all the way through that song. Not a lot of people know that."

Show Outro

"So on that painful note. I shall say fare thee well till next week. Been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then I shall leave you with this from the album Rising. It is Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. It is the New York Mix of Do You Close Your Eyes Until next week see ya."
