Show Intro

"Evening all, welcome once again to, yes, The Joe Elliott Show. Right here on the wonderful Planet Rock, always a pleasure, great to be with you. We have 60 minutes, one solid hour, let's get on with it, lights out. This is UFO."

UFO

"What a fantastic live act they were, and that's from their breakout album in 1977. The album is Lights Out, the artist is UFO, of course, the song that we heard, Too Hot To Handle."

The Struts

"Now here's another band that's too hot to handle, doing their bit, flying the flag as they do. This is The Struts."

"And before that we heard the Struts from their latest album, Pretty Vicious, and a wonderful story of debauchery from Luke there, the song is Too Good At Raising Hell."

The Motors

"I played the B-side of that a few weeks back, great band, it's The Motors, produced by Robert John Mutt Lange. That was the A-side of one of the first 12-inch singles I ever bought. Song is Dancing The Night Away, once actually covered by Cheap Trick."

Dr. Feelgood

"Now here's another band that were pretty good at raising hell as well, Canvey Islands finest. This is Dr Feelgood."

"And before that, a band that I did see many times at the City Hall in Sheffield, it's Dr Feelgood, taken from a collection called Rock And Roll Gentleman, we heard the song Baby Jane."

The Only Ones

"I've got to be honest, it's the only song that I ever heard from that band, which is why it's taken from a compilation album of some wonderful stuff from that period in time, including the likes of Wreckless Eric, of course, who I've played many a time on my show. But that, it's a band called The Only Ones, it's from a collection called Cash From Chaos Three with Another Girl, Another Planet."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up, we're going to get down and funky with Pat Travers."

Pat Travers

"And before that we heard Pat Travers from his debut album back in 1976, I saw him two nights in a row, opening for The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, and I was hooked. What we just heard, Medley, parts one and two."

KISS

"Taken from their greatest ever bit of work, Destroyer, back in 1976, that is Kiss with Flaming Youth."

The Lemon Pipers

"Okay, so let's head back to a time where freedom and flower power were where it's at, man. This is The Lemon Pipers."

"And before that, taken from a compilation album called 25 Years Of Rock And Roll, 1968. It's The Lemon Pipers with Green Tambourine."

Melanie

"Very sad to read this week of the passing of Melanie Safka, or to you and I, just pure Melanie. She really broke through big at Woodstock. She was just a girl, 22 years old, with an acoustic guitar, sat on a stool, but she really won the crowd over, and she had a rake load of hit singles. Disappeared off the scene for a while, but as they like to say these days, a great live attraction. And there with a song once covered by Mott The Hoople on their 1971 Wildlife album, Is Melanie, the song called Lay Down (Candle In The Rain)."

Show Outro

"And that, my dear friends, is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I should be back with you next week at exactly the same time, so don't touch that dial because where else would you want to be other than right here on Planet Rock."

"So until then, I shall leave you with this, and I'm probably playing this because I haven't just played Melanie. I'm feeling rather lamentable, and this just seems like a really beautiful way to end the show this week. From the album The Impossible Dream, this is a Sensational Alex Harvey Band and anthem. Until next week, see ya!."
