Show Intro

"Hello good evening and welcome. Well you know where you are and if you don't you've just stumbled across a wonderful radio station called Planet Rock. I'm Joe Elliott and for the next sixty minutes or so I'm gonna be playing you what in my humble opinion is some fantastic tunes. Starting off with this little bit of quirkiness from Punishment Of Luxury."

Punishment Of Luxury

"I heard that song many mant times down at the good old Limit Club in Sheffield back in the early 80s. A fanastic little club where you couls see every type of artist coming through. The wierdoes like Wayne County & the Electric Chairs. Or Nash The Slash who's a man who played the violin with bandagaes wrapped around his face. I also saw chart bands like the Darts and up and coming rock bands like Wild Horse featuing the late Jimmy Bain and of course Brian Robertson. In fact me and Steve Clark actually roadied for the band on that particular night. And they paid us the princely sum of two pounds. Robert Plant also played there and queue to get in was round the block. It was insane. Grat little club and we just heard a great little band. The band are Punishment Of Luxury. The album and the song that we just heard Puppet Life."

Jet

"And before that Jet. Not to be confused with the Australian band of the same name. This is the UK band from the mid to late 70s. I saw them open for Hunter/Ronson in 1975. Members of that band. Davy O'List alnost joined Roxy Music for a little while. Used to be in Nice with Keith Emerson. Peter Oxendale the keyboard player would go on to join Ian Hunter's Overnight Angels. The rest of the guys pretty much became radio stars. What a great band. Produced by Roy Thomas Baker. Sadly it didn't really do anything and the band split up. That particukar album and song that we just heard Nothing To Do With Us."

Cheap Trick

"What a fantastic song that is. It is of course Cheap Trick fro the album Bang Zoom Crazy Hello. With The Sun Never Sets."

Page And Plant

"Now who's that over there that I see walking to Clarksdale?. Why it's Robert Plant and Jimmy Page."

"And before that Page And Plant reuinted. And it feels so good. The album is called Walking Into Clarksdale. The song that we heard Most High."

My Chemical Romance

"What a great band they were. In fact I think I can actually say what a great band they are because the last I've read they've actually reformed. They are My Chemical Romance. It's the sort of title track I guess. The album is Black Parade. The song Welome To The Black Parade."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up we pay tribute to a fantastic songwriter in Gary Brooker."

Procul Harum

"And before that a gentle man that I met for the one and only time at the Mick Ronson Memorial gig because he performed that night. His name is Gary Brooker. He was the mainstay of Procul Harum and sadly passed away just a few days ago. What a fantastic songwriter he was. I could've picked numerous tracks from the band Procul Harum. But the one I chose shows off all the drama that you would expect from that band. The song is of course A Salty Dog. Rest in peace Gary Brooker."

Mick Ronson

"Some absolutely wonderful guitar work there from the late great Mick Ronson. It's taken from an album called Beside Bowie. But it's also available on a couple of posthumous compilations that came out. Show Time being one of them. And the other one I believe was called Just Like This. It's a great song called I'd Give Anything To See You."

The New Cars

"Right here's a couple of really cool live tracks. Starting off with, and featuring Todd Rundgren, The New Cars."

"And before that The New Cars which was essentially the old Cars but with Prairie prince from The Tubes on drums and instead of Rik Ocasek that had Todd Rndgren. So of course having Todd in the band they would play a little bit more than just old Cars songs when they toured. Including the one that we just heard originally recorded by Todd's band The Nas back in 1968. Fantastic live version of the song Open My Eyes."

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

"I had the ernormous pleasure of seeing that band a bunch of tims live. And what an amazing live act they were. The first time I saw them was Sheffield City Hall where they were the opening act for Nils Lofgren. Who imself was no slouch but they were a really difficult act to follow I must say. I've always been a huge fan of Mike Campbell's guitar playing. What can you say about Tom Petty what a superb songwriter and such a unique voice. Fantastic talent. Taken from the Anthology collection that is American Girl."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time. So you know what not to do right. Do not touch that dial."

"So until then I shall leave you with this. It's the New York Dolls from the album the New Yorl Dolls 1973. This is the wonderful Jet Boy. Until next week see ya!."
