Show Intro

"Evening everyone and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott show right here on, you guessed it, the magnificent, the wonderful, the stupendously fantastic Planet Rock."

"What have I got tonight? Sixty minutes of you know what, actually it's a little different tonight because having been home now and got over the jet lag and settled into my time off, I'm just having a blast talking to my friends that I've not spoke to for a long time and one of the themes of this last week has been musicals."

"What's everybody's favourite musical? My Fair Lady or those kind of things and I said you know what, mine is the Rocky Horror Picture Show."

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

"Yes, if you've never seen it I highly recommend that you do. It's one of the greatest camp musical funny films ever made of its time of course."

"In fact, in fairness, they did a remake of it about 2015, maybe 2016 and that wasn't too bad either and between the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Hedwig and the Angry Inch it's a bit of a toss up for me which one is the funniest, the most peculiar probably."

"But I think maybe Rocky Horror just about wins it because I've been watching it since I was about 14 years old and there from the original soundtrack of we just heard the Time Warp."

The Tubes

"So let's keep it theatrical for the next couple of tunes shall we? They're not actually from musicals but they could have been, starting off with The Tubes."

"And before that we heard The Tubes, what a fantastic band they were, in fact still are because they actually reformed and they've been touring recently. From the album Young And Rich we heard one of the sexiest tunes ever written, Don't Touch Me There."

Alice Cooper

"From the first album without the original band, 1975, that is Alice Cooper, title track of the magnificent album that is Welcome To My Nightmare."

Budgie

"So from a couple of songs that could have worked very well in the West End or Broadway, let's head off to Wales. This is Budgie."

"And before that we heard Budgie, wonderful stuff from their album Bandelier with I Can't See My Feelings."

Rush

"You may well have read, as I did this week, a fascinating article about Rush and how Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson may well have been talked into going back out on the road as Rush. By no lesser human being than Sir Paul McCartney who apparently had a word with them backstage at the Taylor Hawkins gig in London last year and said, you really should get out there, touring is what it's all about."

"And I guess when Paul McCartney speaks the world listens because there's a possibility they might and wouldn't it be great if they could and they would and we may hear songs like the one that we just heard there, originally from their album Fly By Night, that is Rush with Anthem."

"You my friends are listening to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up, it's stranger than fiction. It really is."

Split Enz

"And before that a band I saw open for Jack The Lad at the Sheffield City Hall back in 1976. It's Split Enz from the UK version of Mental Notes, an album originally released in their home country of New Zealand but the UK release had been overseen and kind of remixed by one Mr. Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, the song that we heard, Stranger Than Fiction."

Jack The Lad

"No better title for a song, is it? Really has changed this last few days. That is Jack The Lad who were born out of the kind of split of Lindisfarne back in the mid 70s. It's from an album called It's Jack The Lad which I believe was their debut album, the song Turning Into Winter and it certainly is."

Be Bop Deluxe

"And then over to one of the greatest bands to ever come out of Yorkshire, he said proudly. No, don't be silly. It's Be Bop Deluxe."

"And before that Yorkshire's finest, they really were, Be Bop Deluxe from the 1975 album Futurama but we just heard the 2018 remix of the song Stage Whispers."

Heavy Metal Kids

"And we're back to the theatrics but this time it's a little bit more vaudeville, a bit more Oliver than say The King And I. That is the Heavy Metal Kids from a wonderful album called Kitsch, originally released in 1976, the song Hey Little Girl."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week, a real pleasure as always, never gets old when I say that, it really doesn't. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then let's go out with this beauty from the 1976 album that is Run With The Pack, this is Bad Company and Sweet Little Sister. Until next week, see ya!."
