Show Intro

"Greetings my fellow music lovers and welcome once again to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the m, m, m, magnificent Planet Rock. Great to be with you once again. What have I got for you tonight?. Well there's some old. There's some new. There's some borrowed. And there's some live. Starting off with this one which was performed live this Wednesday gone 29 years ago."

Queen/Joe Elliott

"Featuring Slash on lead guitar and yours truly on lead vocals. Well, from the second verse onwards. It's the 20th April 1992. It's Wembley Stadium. It's The Freddie Mercury Tribute Show. And what a show. What a night. Some absolutely incredible artists performed on that show. And what an honour it is for me to be able to say that I was the first person to ever sing with Queen after the passing of Fred. And I didn't even know this until about 18 months ago. When Brian May asked me to contribute to a documentary being made about Queen and Adam Lambert. And when the interviewer pointed it out to me. I was totally gobsmacked. And it has now apparently passed into pub quiz legend. From the 20th April 1992. The opening song of Queen's set. It is of course Tie Your Mother Down."

Cheap Trick

"Now if you were listening to my show last week you'll have heard me say that I wasn't that familiar with the Cheap Trick album that had just been released. Well I was gonna play a track anyway. Well seven days is a long time in rock and roll folks. And since then I have played it and I have played it and I have played it. And my verdict is as always it's magnificent. So here once again from their brand new album are Cheap Trick."

"And before tThe Fiasco we heard a band that have been around a lot longer than The Fiasco. About 45 years longer as it happens. They are Cheap Trick. They're still making new music. And from their brand new album In Another World. We heard the opening track The Summer Looks Good On You."

The Fiasco

"So every now and again I get an email to my Planet Rock account that reads something along the lines of. 'Hey man we're a brand new band from wherever. And it would be like totally awesome if we could hear our song on your show.' Well of course it would be inappropriate for me to indulge those kind of things. But I was sent a link to this week to a song. I played it a couple of times and you know what. I really thought I should share this one with the listeners of Planet Rock. They describe themselves as a pop/rock band. And I'm not gonna argue with them about that description. And if the rest of their material sounds as good as this. I'm in. And they are all the way from Leeds. They are a band called The Fiasco. It's a brand new song called Breaking Out. Keep it up boys you may just have something there."

All About Eve

"Now if you're a fan of big jangly guitar sounds you might just like this. This is All About Eve."

"And before that All About Eve. Jangle city. Steve Clark loved that band. They were signed to our label in the late 80s and we did a few TV shows together. And we got to know them pretty well. Great bunch of people who made some great music. There from a collection called Winter Words, Hits And Rarities are All About Eve with the kind of hit Every Angel.

The Who

"I'm a big fan of that last Who album. You'll know that if you listen to this show often because I rabbit on about it a lot. The album is just called Who. It's about, nearly pushing two years old now. The track that we just heard Detour."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. It is time for a little break and when we come back, we're going live. One of them brand new. And the other one an absolute classic."

Thin Lizzy

"Before that we heard Thin Lizzy from their classic live album Live And Dangerous 1978. And featuring a fantastic guitar solo by one Mr. Brian Robertson. We heard the song Still In Love With You."

Bryan Ferry

"The album is called Live At The Royal Albert Hall 2020. So one would imagine it was recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall in the year 2020. It is Bryan Ferry with a great collection of covers, classic Bryan Ferry hits. And of course some brilliant tunes. One of which we just heard. The opening track of the album. The Thrill Of It All. And fair play to Bryan Ferry I've heard rumour that he has donating all royalties from this album to his road crew. So well done Bryan Ferry."

Down 'n' Outz

"And talking of Roxy Music. Did you know that Def Leppard had covered a Roxy Music song?. Yeah and so did the Down 'n' Outz."

"And before that the Down 'n' Outz from the 2020 Record Store Day release. The Music Box E.P. with a cover of Roxy Music's first ever hit Virginia Plain."

Def Leppard

"Honestly folks I don't have an agenda I really really don't. I know we started the show off this week with e singing with Queen. And there you just heard myself singing two Roxy Music songs with two different bands. But that's just because I'm such a big fan and it's just the way that the dice fell this week. We just heard Def Leppard from the 2006 album YEAH! with Street Life."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time."

"So until then I shall leave iou with this. That pesky grim reaper has been back round again this week and has taken away one of the most successful songwriters of the 20th century. I'm talking about Jim Steinman. Now when Def Leppard worked with Jin Steinman it didn't work out, but you can take nothing away from the work that he did with he likes of Bonnie Tyler and especially Meatloaf. So here with the title track of one of the biggest selling albums of the 20th century is Meatloaf with Bat Out Of Hell. Until next week see ya."
