Show Intro

"Greetings my lovelies and welcome once again, yes, to The Joe Elliott show right here on, you got it, the wonderful Planet Rock. What have we got. Sixty minutes, one hour to play you some wonderful music in my humble opinion. So if you like your movies late night, and you like your brain storms all night. You're gonna love this. This is the Doctors Of Madness."

Doctors Of Madness

"Just returned home from a very successful Japanese tour. Somewhere that Def Leppard are heading in a couple of weeks time. That is the Doctors Of Madness featuring the extremely talented Mr. Richard Strange. Kid Strange to you and I. Who was hanging out with Morgan Fisher down in Japan. I shall be doing the same thing. Morgan Fisher was the keyboard in Mott The Hoople who now lives in Japan. And he's already booked sushi, so I can't wait. But there from 1976 where I discovered them when they opened for Be Bop Deluxe at the Sheffield City Hall. From the album Late Nite Movies All Nite Brain Storms. The wonderful Doctors Of Madness with Waiting."

Queen

"Well that fast and furious start to the show is not about to let up yet. This is Queen."

"And before that we heard Queen. A very different version to a song that we all know and love. Originally recorded for the John Peel sessions but later added to the deluxe edition of News of The World. It is of course the fast version of We Will Rock You."

The Damned

"Often regarded as the first ever Punk Rock release. That is The Damned. From a collection called Black Is The Night with a wonderful bit of work called New Rose. Produced as it happens by Nick Lowe."

UFO

"So from one re-record if you like to another from 1995. This is UFO."

"And before that we UFO who I discovered when I first started working in a factory in Sheffield. And a friend of mine called Colin loaned me Phenomenon the UFO album. Their first for Chrysalis Records. And I lent him the first Montrose album. And a love affair was born 'cause I fell in love with UFO. So the song was originally from 1974, but that is a re-record when the original, or Mark II line up if you like, got back together in 1995 to make an album called Walk On Water. So what we just heard was the '95 version of that classic tune Doctor, Doctor."

George Harrison

"If like me you were around in the 70s you may well remember that as a hit for Olivia Newton-John in 1972. But that is the original version by George Harrison. From that wonderful album that is All Things Must Pass. It is What Is Life."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up, a remixed revisit to The Man Who Sold The World."

David Bowie

"And before that tricky one this because apparently when the album was originally put together David Bowie wanted to call it Metrobolist. That's how I guess it would have been pronounced because it's an homage to Fritz Lang's Metropolis. I thought it was Metro-bolist. But that's maybe just the Yorkshire in me. Either way the record company said no too weird. So they just changed the title without even asking David. And they changed the album to The Man Who Sold The World. And what we just heard there is Tony Visconti's 2020 remix of the opening track The Width Of A Circle."

T. Rex

"Two artists back to back right there that were known as frenemies. They were best mates. They probably didn't like each other occasionally. I do believe that they drove each other on. And I do believe that they drove each other mad. Either way wonderful stuff. Tyrannosaurus Rex. Featuring of course Marc Bolan. From the extended edition of Bearded Stars. The song By The Light Of The Magical Moon."

Alice Cooper

"Now this has been recently been remastered and it's scrubbed up well. Not that there was anything wrong with it in the first place. This is Alice Cooper."

"And before that we heard Alice Cooper from 1971 the album is School's Out. It's the expanded and remastered edition that came out earlier this year. The song we heard Blue Turk."

Black Sabbath

"I'll tell you one thing Tony Iommi, my goodness, that man had a way or a sound of making some of the heaviest riffs very accessible because of course it's not a pop song but it doesn't sound dirty. It just sounds massive doesn't it. Wonderful stuff. Title track of their album Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. It is of course Black Sabbath."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. Been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time.

"So until then don't touch that dial and keep listening to Planet Rock. Where else would you wanna be?. We're gonna go out with this one released in 1977. And another song like The Damned song I played earlier on produced by Nick Lowe. From the album Be Seeing You. This is Dr. Feelgood and She's A WInd Up. Until next week see ya!."
