Show Intro

"Evening all, welcome once again to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. We have six zero minutes, sixty minutes, one solid hour of fantastic rock in my humble opinion of course. Coming your way right now. Starting off with the legendary and the wonderful Cheap Trick."

Cheap Trick

"From 1982's One On One album produced by Roy Thomas Baker. Famous for his work with The Cars, Queen of course and Ian Hunter's overnight Angels, lest we forget. And one of the few albums that didn't feature Tom Peterson on bass. taht was a gentleman called Jon Brant. But we all know Tom Peterson is the real deal. The real bass player in Cheap Trick. With his 12-string basses that almost outdo Rick Neilsen's five-necked guitars. the album is One On One. The song we heard She's Tight."

Waysted

"Now here's a band that features a once member of Def Leppard. Well, he was with us for a week. His name is Frank Noon. He's a wonderful human being and a great drummer. And the loudest snare drum I've ever heard. This is Waysted."

"And before that Waysted. A band originally formed by Fast Eddie Clarke, once of Motorhead. Oete Way, once of UFO. And Frank Noon on the drums. With, as I said, one of the loudest snare drums Ive ever heard. Fin on lead vocals to finish it all off. It is Waysted from the album Vices with Love Loaded."

Utopia

"Magnificent vocal harmonies there from ot just Todd Rundgren, but the entire band, It is Utopia from 1977. The album is Ra. The song Magic Dragon Theatre."

Von Hertzen Brothers

"Right then dear Planet Rock listeners please make this next band more popular. This is the Von Hertzen Brothers."

"And before that the Von Hertzen Brothers. Why are they not massive?. Absolutely love that band. The album is Experience. The song we heard Brother."

Sensational Alex Harvey Band

"What a sensational groove that song has. And it would wouldn't it because it's the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. From 1972 the album is Framed. With a fantastic version of the song I Just Want To Make Love To You."

"You are listening to The Joe Elliott Show on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up we're going diving with Steve Winwood."

Steve Winwood

"And before that Stevie Winwood. From an album that Def Leppard played to death on the High 'n' Dry tour because it was pretty much the only cassette that we had on the tour bus for that entire tour. Wonderful stuff though Steve Winwood. The album is Arc Of A Diver. The song we heard While You See A Chance."

Wishbone Ash

"Guaranteed to fill the dance floor pf any self respecting night club up and down the UK in the mid 70s. It certainly did at the Sheffield Top Rank. Which is where we held the Improvisions club every Sunday. And what fantastic memories I have of going there and seeing some wonderful bands. But I didn't see that band there. I did see them at the City Hall though. It is Wishbone Ash from the album Argus. The song Blowin' Free."

Curved Air

"Now for a very hip it up, Prog-tastic segment. Starting off with Curved Air."

"And before that we heard Curved Air. And boy the same time as I was listening to Atomic Rooster, did I have the hots for Sonja Kristina or what. This 12 year old kid, hormones wrapped in skin is what I was. Just lusting over this wonderful woman that was the front person of the band Curved Air. Who was just heard there from the collection Retrospective. It's the anthology. The song we heard, a big hit for them, It Happened Today."

Atomic Rooster

"Now here's some pathetically useless trivia for ya. Back in 1971/72 when I visited my local store one day they were giving that song away as a Flexi-Disc. To plug a new record label called Pegasus Records. It didn't have any writing on it. So I just played the song never knowing who it was. When I did finally find it as a B-Side I think it was. It came out on a completely different label. So whatever happened to Pegasus Records. Answers on a postcard please. it is Atomic Rooster. These days it can be found on the box collection of all their studio work called Sleeping For Years. It is called The Rock."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. It's been a real pleasure as always. And trust me that phrase never gets old. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time.

"So until then I shall leave you with this. This is a song that myself and Ricky Warwick. He of wonderful solo career, Thin Lizzy and Black Star Riders fame. Once stayed up on a New Years Eve right up until the sun coming up trying to learn to play this. On what would have probably been, let's see, Guitar Hero 6. This is Wolfmother and Woman. Until next week see ya!."
