Show Intro

"Greetings everyone and welcome to The Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming to you this week all the way from Mexico City that is so high above sea level here that it absolutely leaves you breathless. And that's what I hope to do in the enxt hour is leave you breathless with some of the music that you're gonna here. We're gonna start off this week's show with Motor Sister."

Motor Sister

"Well if that doesn't take your breath away nothing will. Wonderful stuff there from Motor Sister featuring the very talented Mr. Jim Wilson on guitar and vocals. Also in that band Scott Ian of Anthrax. And his good lady wife Pearl Aday. Daughter of Meatloaf. It's from the 2022 album Get Off. The song we heard Coming For You."

Von Hertzen Brothers

"Right all the way from Mexico all the way back to Europe. Specifically geographically one of the smallest countries in Europe. Brimming with such big talent. I'm talking about Finland. Two bands that came from that country back to back right now. Starting off with this crowd who I have loved forever and finally get to play a show with this coming summer. This is the Von Hertzen Brothers."

"And before that the said Von Hertzen Brothers. Really really big fan of their work. Can't wait to see them live and actually get to say Hi and maybe have a glass of wine or whatever. We heard the title track from their album New Day Rising."

Hanoi Rocks

"Funnily enough one of the festivals that we're playing this summer. Possibly the same one as with he Von Hertzen Brothers, the singer from that band is also appearing. That band are Hanoi Rocks. The singer is Michael Monroe. Now I first came across Hanoi Rocks at The Marquee in 1984 and absolutely fell in love with them. I thought they were such a great live act. They were a cross between I suppose the New York Dolls and with hindsight a yet to be formed Guns N' Roses. Wonderful stuff there. the album Two Steps From The Move. The song we heard I Can't Get It."

Bronco

"Now I'm sure you're all familiar with that phrase you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. Well here's a prime example of that absolutely happening in the studio with two bands. Starting off with Bronco."

"Jess Roden was the lead singer in Bronco. The band we started that little segment off with From their second album in 1971. The album is Ace Of Sunlight. The song we heard Amber Moon which featured on guitar Mick Ralphs and Ian Hunter on piano. So one can only guess that they said hey will you play on our album and the other said sure if you come and sing on ours. And I think that's what happened. If it isn't please somebody write and let me know."

Mott The Hoople

"Mott The Hoople there from their 1971 album. The third album they released on Island Records. The album is Widdlife. The song we heard, a cover of an old Melanie song called Lay Down. Which featured on backing vocals Jess Roden."

"You are listening to the Joe Elliott Show right here on the wonderful Planet Rock. Coming up we're gonna have a Prog-tastic little 15 minutes. Starting off with a band called Starcastle."

Starcastle

"And before that fans of Yes anyone?. I think they were. But what a great tune. The album is called Starcastle as are the band. The song that we heard, the opening track of that album, Lady Of The Lake."

Dixon House Band

"Pop Prog at its very best there. that is a fantastic tune from a band called the Dixon House Band. From an album called Fighting Alone in I think it was 1979. The song Sooner Or Later."

Queen

"Now this next band were best known for let's see. Their vocal abilities their sense of humour, their incredible playing together, their insanely brilliant songwriting. Which was mostly very positive, uplifting and anthemic but occasionally they would write something that was very biting and very bitter. Like this one from Queen."

"And before that we heard Queen. Wonderfully bitter stuff from the album Night At The Opera. With Death On Two Legs (Dedicated To...). I'll let you figure that one out."

Sparks

"I just a documentary that was originally broadcast in France on that band just a couple of days ago. So it put them on the front burner of my brain to play this week. But I thought what shall I play that's a little different. How about a non album B-Side. From 1974. Yes that is Sparks. It was the B-Side of their first ever hit This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us. These days you can find it as a bonus track on the album Kimono My House. The song is Barbecutie."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is about it for this week. All the way from Mexico City. Been a real pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week at exactly the same time from Bogota in Colombia. .

"So until then I shall leave you with this. And let's hope it doesn't come true. From the album of the same name. This is 10CC with Ships Don't Disappear In The Night. Do they?. Let's hope not. Till next week see ya!."
