JOE ELLIOTT/RICK SAVAGE On How DEF LEPPARD's DIAMOND STAR HALOS Album Started

Def Leppard 2022. Def Leppard 2022

Def Leppard members Joe Elliott and Rick Savage were recently interviewed about the new Diamond Star Halos album.

'Diamond Star Halos' is the band's 12th studio album.

As announced yesterday it will be released on Friday 27th May 2022.

Joe and Sav (along with Phil) spoke to Billboard and discussed the making of the album over the last two years, the single 'Kick' and much more.

Diamond Star Halos Recording

Joe desribed how work on the album started and progressed through the pandemic.

The process was similar to the last album except for the band working remotely in different locations on either side of the Atlantic.

Fire It Up Co-Writer

The first part of the article reveals that upcoming single 'Fire It Up' was co-written by Sam Hollander.

Sam's website bio describes him as "one of the most renowned songwriters and producers in the game".

He has worked with the likes of Panic! At The Disco, One Direction, Fitz and the Tantrums, Weezer, Katy Perry, Train, blink-182, Jewel, with "22 US Top 40 Hits, as well as 10 Number 1's, 10 top fives".

Given he is based in the USA it's likely this was another song co-written by Phil with an outside writer following 'Kick'.

Album Track Descriptions

The article features a few interesting descriptions of some of the new songs which along with news that it is 61 mins in length sounds very promising.

'Kick', 'Fire It Up', 'Take What You Want', 'Gimme A Kiss', 'U Rok Mi' are all said to be very classic sounding anthemic Leppard rock tracks.

The Alison Krauss featured songs 'This Guitar' and 'Lifeless' are described as being 'ventures into Americana'.

'Angels (Can’t Help You Now)' is described as being orchestral with the rest said to be exploring different moods and textures and closing track 'From Here To Eternity', as expected from its title, possibly an epic style closer.

Listen to 'Kick' below.
