DEF LEPPARD's JOE ELLIOTT On 2023 Euro/UK Tour/DIAMOND STAR HALOS Launch Show

Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott repeated his 2023 UK Tour news again earlier today when speaking on BBC Radio 2 to Zoe Ball.

The Stadium Tour is scheduled to start on 16th June in Atlanta, GA.

The band's first tour since 2019 and they played their first show since then last night for SiriusXM radio in Los Angeles, CA.

This morning Joe appeared on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show again again following his two appearances in Marc/April to premiere new songs.

He spoke to Zoe Ball live from Los Angeles after the Whisky A Go Go show had finished.

Joe talked about playing again, the Whisky A Go Go show, making Diamond Star Halos, Alison Krauss, Mike Garson and again repeated his UK tour news but without any dates.

2023 UK Tour

Joe said the band will tour the UK and Europe in 2023 but did not say when it would be announced or when the dates will be.

Of course he has already said much more on his own weekly show and indicated it will be The Stadium Tour going around the world.

From May onwards in Europe/UK seems most likely to be playing outdoor stadiums. With Vivian and Joe (and Phil) previously saying the tour would be in stadiums and last for three years and visit everywhere including South America, Japan and Australia/New Zealand.

Zoe Ball - "I can't begin to tell you how giddy excited I am to speak to our first guest this morning. He's the lead singer of a band who have sold 110 million records across 11 albums. they have their 12th out today. It is called Diamond Star Halos. Good morning from Def Leppard. It's Joe Elliott. Hello Joe!."

Joe Elliott - "Good morning. How are you?."

Zoe Ball - "I'm great. More like how are you Joe because you're fresh off stage."

Joe Elliott - "Yeah there you are look at you. I am actually. Good morning. Yes we just played the Whisky A Go Go. The legendary Whisky A Go Go on the Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles."

Zoe Ball - "Do you know it makes me so happy that these places are still going and still such great venues."

Joe Elliott - "It's a legendary place. I mean bands as far back as The Doors with Jim Morrison and The Rolling Stones played there within the last five years or so. It was a launch similar to what we've just done, 'cause with a new album coming out we wanted to do something different and play in a club that's half the size of The Marquee. Something we haven't done for a long long time. It was great."

Zoe Ball - "Did it kick right off?."

Joe Elliott - "Oh it kicked off yeah. It was great, you know, you have to walk through the crowd to get on to the stage. So, you know, whatever bits of clothing you've got left when you get on there you hang on to as best you can."

Zoe Ball - "Oh this is absolutely incredible. How was it to play some of the songs from the album up there?."

Joe Elliott - "Brilliant you know because obviously it's out today. A brand new record. We haven't dne a show. Our last gig was in Nashville in November 2019 [Sacramento actually Joe...]."

Joe Elliott - "So we haven't played a show at all since then no matter what kind of music you wanna talk about. Old, new, whatever."

Joe Elliott - "But to throw in some new songs in the set today - we've been rehearsing them lie crazy for three weeks. Just so we can catch up to speed."

Joe Elliott - "When you get back on the horse doing the songs you've been playing for a while, they come back in a couple of days."

Joe Elliott - "But with new stuff you have to tattoo the lyrics on the inside of your eyelids. You know, it's like, it's crazy. But you get there in the end."

Zoe Ball - "And you can hear that magic coming through on the record as well. So many people asking. You've got loads of tour dates in America next month. When can we see you guys playing over here?."

Joe Elliott - "We have 36 stadium shows in the States starting in Atlanta on the 16th June. We finish mid September and then we take a bit of a break and then we are bringing the tour to Europe, including, yes the UK, in 2023. Absolutely."

Zoe Ball - "That's fantastic news. Everyone's gonna be so so chuffed to hear that. Joe thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us this morning. Especially after coming off stage."

Joe Elliott - "How rock and rol lam I. It's midnight. We've done a gig in LA and I'm drinking tea out of my very British Hard Day's Night Beatles mug."
