"Vaulting The World"

In mid-1995 the band were approached to do their first Greatest Hits collection, after initially refusing they went with the idea and "Vault" was released in late October. Included was a new recording of a song written by Joe and Sav in 1990, "When Love & Hate Collide". The song would become the band's biggest UK hit to date and the album made the Top 10 world-wide.

To promote the release the band embarked on it's first world promo tour, playing a number of small and intimate acoustic shows in addition to the usual TV/Radio appearances/interviews. Taking in over 20 countries, the trek lasted from late September to early December. The band performing in such countries as Morocco, Singapore and Malaysia for the first time.Def Leppard Vault World Promo Tour 1995.

"3 Continents In One Day"

The most ambitious part of the tour was to take place on the album's release date. On Monday October 23rd 1995 the band attempted to break a world record by playing 3 shows in 3 separate countries, on 3 different continents in just one day. They achieved their aim by playing 3 short hour-long acoustic shows starting off in Tangiers before flying on to London and ending up in Vancouver. The event was a major success and generated massive press interest for the band and the album.

"Def Leppard Day - Tea & Biscuits With The Mayor"

During early October the band enjoyed another interesting day - this time being honoured in their home city of Sheffield. The Mayor declaring Thursday October 5th 'Def Leppard Day'. After an idea presented to the local council by two fans, the band received a number of local honours and also opened the new National Centre For Popular Music building in the city centre. Some of the day's events were captured on the band's fourth major longform VHS release "Video Archive", plus highlights from the Waptentake show and the Don Valley show of 1993.

As with the 1986 'pre-Hysteria' shows, the band would give fans a sneak preview of the upcoming "Slang" album by playing two of the songs acoustically. Both "All I Want Is Everything", and "Where Does Love Go When It Dies" were played for the very first time in Sheffield. At one of the first venues the band ever played - the Wapentake Club.
During September the band would play before their largest audience to date - over 200,000 people at an outdoor TV festival in Rome.
