"Let It Rock, Let It Roll, Let It Go"

Just as the band completed the recording of the album they started a short European tour in support of Rainbow playing 21 shows. The album and 'Let It Go' single followed and the band were ready for their second major UK headline tour including a return to the Sheffield City Hall and their very first headline show at Hammersmith Odeon in London. Before and during the Liverpool show on July 22nd the band filmed their first videos. Promo clips for 3 songs including the soon-to-be important 'Bringin' On The Heartbreak' video. The only showcase for the band's pre-Pyromania line-up captured on film that has ever been released.

"Getting High (and Dry) in the USA"

The band would return to the US in August for a 6 week tour opening up for Ozzy Osbourne and his 'Blizzard Of Ozz' band, featuring the late Randy Rhoads on guitar. The band and especially Pete Willis were drinking heavily throughout this time. Something which would lead to Joe phoning up then Girl guitarist Phil Collen to jokingly ask if he could "learn our setlist" in case Pete couldn't continue playing. The band fricton would continue after the tour leading to Pete being fired. After the Ozzy dates the band started a co-headline tour with Southen boogie act Blackfoot. The tour would last for 2 1/2 months and end with a large run of shows in California and Texas reflecting their popularity in those areas.

"This Time The Lights Are Going Out"

The band took a brief rest before continuing the hectic 6 months of shows with a final European run as guests to Judas Priest with Accept in support. 9 shows were played in Germany alone including Pete Willis' last show with Def Leppard in Essen. The band's passports were stolen at the end of the tour preventing them from making the last show in Hamburg. The Essen date marked the end of the most intense period of touring in the band's history, roughly 132 shows in 6 1/2 months. The band then went home to Sheffield to begin work on the next album and what would become their first tour with the definitive band line up.
