Def Leppard and Motley Crue played the first show of The World Tour 2023 last night in Mexico City, Mexico with 17 songs performed.

The show took place at the 65,000 capacity Foro Sol stadium.

The first official night on The World Tour 2023 following the two intimate shows in Atlantic City, NJ on 10th/11th February.

The first time at this venue and also the band's first stadium show in Mexico City.

A return to stadiums shows for the first time since September 2022 when The Stadium Tour ended in Las Vegas, NV.

The World Tour Begins

8pm, the sun has set, mountains in the background and thousands of wild Mexican fans in a packed stadium.

Not a bad way to start the main section of "The World Tour" 2023.

After AGORA had played a short set it was time for Def Leppard to start their 90 minute co-headline show.

And they did in fine fashion with 'Take What You Want' including the now familiar playing of (the to-be-released-this-year?...) 'Heroes' cover on the PA and the album intro video.

The band continued where they had left off on their two night run in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

1.5 miles above sea level in Mexico City and Joe showed no signs of being breathless as he warned on his radio show last week.

A quick "Hola Mexico City!" from Joe and a certain question.

Did Mexico City want to get rocked?. Yes they did - and YES, get rocked they did.

For 90 more minutes until 10:30pm local time when 'Rock Of Ages' and 'Photograph' brought show #1 on The World Tour to a close.

Didn't it already start last weekend?.

Well, yes but now it definitely has and the band are back in stadiums/outside fields and when they get to Europe a few arenas.

The biggest rock tour of 2022 is back up and running in 2023.

Setlist

There were no changes from the 17 song setlist played for two nights in Atlantic City, NJ on 10th/11th February.

'Let's Get Rocked' keeping its place as song #2 with it's new visuals.

Fellow returning favourite 'When Love & Hate Collide' was also played once more in it's new acoustic/electric form.

Motley Crue also played the same setlist with no changes.

Big Crowd

The Foro Sol stadium was very full up for this show with over 40,000/50,000 fans at least.

The setup for the floor was much like it will be in UK, Europe and the USA with seating on the front section in front of the stage.

Two massive General Admission/Standing sections behind the seats were also very full plus the tiered stadium seating section.

As seen before if you've watched the recent Formula One races here where the cars go through this section when Foro Sol is incorporated into the main race track.

Quite possibly the biggest Mexican crowd ever played to.

Mexico City Return

This show was the ninth played in Mexico City.

Just a few hundred metres behind the main stadium stands that the band faced throughout this show is the Palacio de los Deportes arena venue.

The scene of the last two shows on the 1992/1993 Adrenalize '7-Day Weekend' world tour and the first two shows in Mexico City.

Taking place on 28th/29th September 1993. The band returned to where it all began for them in this city.

I almost forgot to mention the picture of the woman wearing nothing but body paint on Nikki Sixx's IG post before MC started their set.

But now I have.

The next Def Leppard show takes place on 21st February in Monterrey, Mexico - (which was of course the first city played in Mexico on 25th September 1993).
