DEF LEPPPARD In MUNICH, GERMANY On THE WORLD TOUR 2023 (Show Report/Setlist)

Def Leppard played another show on The World Tour 2023 last night in Munich, Germany with 17 songs performed.

The show took place at the 20,000 capacity Königsplatz.

The first show in this city since 5th July 2019 and the first time at this venue.

A second outdoor show in a row in the German sunshine.

Rocking The Square

The King's Of Rock in the King's Square or as the locals call it the Königsplatz.

The very first time playing in this venue which isn't really a venue at all.

The stage set up in front of the twin towers of the Propylaea city gate building.

The crowd spread out across the road and the grass area around the square. All 20,000 of them tightly packed together.

Sunshine And Delays

The sun was out and the advertised start time was nearing - 5:30pm but no sign of any opening band again as at the last show.

The ticket showed a 6:30 start time but only a local rock DJ appeared and then a long wait.

Whatever the reason for the delay the show eventually got going at 7:25pm with Motley Crue.

And after them - the main event.

Late Start/Late Finish

And as the sun set Def Leppard appeared and blasted their way into 'Take What You Want' at 9:30pm.

Like Nuremberg 1986 this venue may have a dark past but now it was rocking to the sounds of 'Let's Get Rocked' and 'Animal'.

Swiftly followed by 'Foolin'' and 'Armageddon It'.

And then many more hits as the band rocked the square right up to the 11pm finish.

And as you can see and hear below they were in top form once more.

17 Song Setlist

The same 17 song setlist was played and seems likely to be played for this entire tour leg.

The usual change leading up to a UK tour has already been made of course with WLAHC already in the setlist.

Diamond Star Halos Anniversary In Munich

'Take What You Want', 'Kick' and 'This Guitar' were all given their first performances in Munich.

And on the first anniversary of the release of the latest original studio album.

Munich 30th Anniversary

This show fell on the 30th anniversary of the band's previous biggest headline show in the city in May 1993 during the Adrenalize tour.

When they played the Olympiahalle with Ugly Kid Joe.

Def Leppard Date In Germany

The 27th May turns out to Def Leppard's German day with four shows played in the country on this date.

Starting back in May 1992 on the 13-Day club tour in Frankfurt.

The Munich show followed in May 1993 on the main Adrenalize tour.

And in 2015 the returned to the Stadthalle in Offenbach for the first time since October 1983 on the Pyromania tour.

Possibly, and feel free to look around and check, the most played date in Germany in the band's history.

The next Def Leppard show takes place on 29th May in Budapest, Hungary.
